SCHOOL ON RADIO: AK -SUBEB CHAIRMAN ADVISES PARENTS TO ENCOURAGE CHILDREN PARTICIPATION

The Chairman , Akwa Ibom  State Universal Basic Education Board, Professor Maria Ikorok has called on parents and guardians to encourage their children and wards to avail themselves of the learning opportunity offered by the School -on- Radio Programme for Primary  Schools coordinated by the Ministry of Education to refresh their memories during the lockdown.  Professor Ikorok who  made the call while interacting with Newsmen in her  office said there was need for parents to encourage  their children to tune- in to the programme aired  on Akwa Ibom ,90.5 FM as  approved by the State Governor.  The SUBEB Chairman  explained that the School on   Radio Programme is to keep the pupils refreshed and alive  to their studies while staying at home as formal schools remain shut due to the restrictions  occasioned by the ravaging Covid 19 pandemic. NCDC APPROVES THE TESTING OF COVID-19 CASES IN AKS

SAYS THE ISOLATION CENTRE WITH INBUILT DIAGNOSTIC LAB IS ONE OF THE BEST IN NIGERIA Akwa Ibom State Government has broken another commendable record by securing approval for the testing of COVID-19 cases in the state by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC. The Chairman of of the Compliance Monitoring team for Uyo Capital City, Prince Enobong Uwah has again urged Christians to continue adhering to precautionary measures in order to curb the spread of the COVID 19 Pandemic. Prince Uwah who is also, the Chairman of Uyo Capital City Development Authority, UCCDA, made the clarion call, during the Day 2 of the monitoring of the level of compliance to guidelines for reopening of churches to check the spread of the virus. He explained that, even though the curve of infections in the State is flattening, more effort is still needed to completely eradicate the scourge. The six reasons that the All Progressives Congress (APC) Screening Panel of Edo governorship aspirants has been disqualified the Governor Godwin Obaseki on Friday, June 12. The decision may have drawn the curtain on the governor’s aspiration on the platform of the party even as Obaseki himself vowed moments after the announcement of his disqualification that he would not appeal the panel’s decision. Councillors Deny Impeachment Plot Against Ika Council Chairman

 Udousung  Few hours after a press statement purportedly from eight councillors in Ika Local Government Council, hit the social media space informing Akwa Ibom people of the Impeachment of the council chairman, Hon. Anthony Udousung, the grassroots lawmakers have come out to clear the air on the issue. A press statement signed by the leader of the Legislature, Mr. Utibe Ukpong and made available to journalists in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, debunked the rumour, saying such action was never taken nor contemplated by the grassroots lawmakers. Ukpong, who apologised to Akwa Ibom state government for the embarrassment the rumour had caused it, urged the people of Ika Local Government Area to disregard the news of the purported removal of Hon.
