A’Ibom Assembly crisis: More lawmakers join factional group Tony Anichebe, Uyo The embattled Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Onofiok Luke, seemed to have lost grip of the House as some members claimed to have been loyal to him, were closing ranks with Hon. Nse Ntuen's faction, it was learnt. New Telegraph, however, gathered that the factional Speaker, Hon. Ntuen and five other lawmakers in his group yesterday met with some members of the House at a location in Uyo, the state capital. AKHA Crisis: Dancing into a Trap

AKHA Crisis: Dancing into a Trap By Ekemini Simon The crisis currently taking over the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly is quite unfortunate and in truth needless. It is no more news that the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Onofiok Luke had declared the seat of five members who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress vacant. Speaker Luke says the sack, is in line with section 109 sub 1G of the 1999 constitution as amended. Consequent upon the sack, the peace of the House has been breached leading to destruction of properties, protest, declaration of factional House with a factional speaker and most unfortunately and disappointingly the siege of the Assembly Complex by security agencies. As expected, this development has thrown up the State at the front burner for discourse and sadly for the unpalatable reasons. But for this issue to be solved, we must start from the root. Declaring the seats

Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly under siege The State House of Assembly complex has been locked down by joint security agents. Before now, the IGP had changed the Commissioner of Police who stopped the illegal invasion of the State House complex by APC thugs two days ago, thereby replacing him with Mr. Hyelasinda Musa Kimo. The reason for this change is a strategy to always give the five sacked APC Lawmakers access to the chambers each day they want to have their factional plenary sessions.
