AKHA CRISIS: AKHA is the only symbol of democracy, APGA


...calls on APC to stop the show of force

...Politicians of high standing should watch their statement

The All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA has described Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, AKHA as a symbol of democracy and called on the PDP and APC in the state to manage their political interest well and check their excesses, as there are no other political parties in the ballot come 2019 general elections at Akwa Ibom State.

This was contained in a press release issued, yesterday sign by the Comdrade Mfon Gabriel Udoh, Akwa Ibom State Publicity Secretary of APGA.

According to APGA, chided the political bigwigs of both parties to respect the rule of law, pursue peace and love to all sundry irrespective of Political parties.
"AKHA is the main symbol of democracy in the state and should be protected by all. The Assembly is not the property of the PDP or the APC; it is meant for the people of Akwa Ibom State and opened to all political parties who sponsor candidates and win during electoral contest.

"The APC lawmakers, in as much they want to safeguard their interest should have followed the appropriate legal channels to defend their right rather than resorting to self-help. As lawmakers, rule of law should be ultimate guide to action.

"We call on the ruling PDP in Akwa Ibom State to be tolerant of the opposition parties, not only in the House of Assembly but also as we move forward to the 2019 general elections. In the same token, we called on APC to stop the show of force, using Federal Agencies to subvert due process and abuse of rule law in the state.

APGA maintained that politicians of high standing should watch their statement carefully by not inciting voilence in the state, as it is capable over heating that is already charged. Adding that the four lawmakers be called back to their seat, while we await the judgement of the Appeal Court .

They urged PDP and APC not to whip the ethnic card and reduce politics in the state to one of political thuggery as this will amount to invitation of unprecedented crisis, which will hurt the peace of the state. Noting that, it bring peace and justice to all deserving in AKHA.

The party called on the Nigeria Police Force, Akwa Ibom State Command and it's hierarchy to be neutral and seen to be completely apolitical in the happening of AKHA and 2019 general elections.

They called on youths, women and all peace loving people of Akwa Ibom State to stay away from the political incited protest and avoid beeing used to cause ethnic tension in these political time as it will lead to total break down of the law and order resulting to major casualty like untimely death.
