Ukanafun agog as Governor Udom Emmanuel flags off 15km road project

Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel has flagged off the construction of the 15.0 km Ikot Akpan Afaha-ikot Oku Usung road with spurs in Ukanafun.

Represented by the Honourable Commissioner for Works, Mr Ephraim Inyangeyen, Governor Emmanuel said the road will when completed be linked to the roads constructed from ikot Ibiritam -Ikot Ekaide to ikot Akpan Afaha.

The governor warned the contractor not to do any shabby work as that will not be Accepted, while also charging the people, especially youths not to disrupt the workby intimidating the contractor or making unnecessary demands from the contractor , and therefore charged them to protect the contractor and cooperate with him to complete the work on schedule.

The governor pledged to address the concerns raised by the people, and gave assurance that, with the restoration of peace in Ukanafun, development will take place and the outstanding issues will be addressed.

In his address, the chairman of Ukanafun Local government area, Rt. Hon. Uko Idiong, thanked the governor for restoration of peace in Ukanafun, stressing that, all the sundry crimes ,such as, arson, kidnapping, murders, robbery and other social vices are now a thing of the past because the governor demonstrated leadership.

He pleaded with the Governor to intervene in rebuilding the market stalls that were burnt down in the past, assuring that, the people of Ukanafun are solidly behind the governor for a second term in office as the Peoples Democratic Party structure and stalwarts are intact.

Former Education Commissioner, Rt Hon Elder Aniekan Akpan observed that, Ukanafun people are so happy the governor has not failed them and reiterated the resolve of the peopleto massively reelect him for a second term in office by casting their votes for him again.

On his part, the Political Leader of Ukanafun, Rt. Hon. Obong Eno Akpan, charged Governor Udom Emmanuel to do more for Ukanafun as he(governor) grew up in the Local Government. He said the road cuts across  three clans in Ukanafun , adding that, the coming of Governor Emmanuel and the kind gesture of his, has energized the base.
Obong Akpan said the votes of Ukanafun remain for the governor as the opposition have found no window to poach for members in Ukanafun.

The chairman Ukanafun chapter of the National Youth Council who doubles as the Vice Chairman of the council, Hon. Umakiso Victor Umoh said the youths of Ukanafun will return Governor Emmanuel come 2019, because he has proven to be a man of his word.

Speaking on behalf of women, Deputy Leader of the Council Legislature, Mrs Ekpedeme Otong said women are grateful to Governor Emmanuel while the Village Head of Ikot Etim , Chief Fabian Evanson described the governor as a son, and beloved son in-law, who the people truly support.

Giving the vote of thanks, Member representing Ukanafun in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Otobong Akpan, lauded the governor for all the good things he has done for Ukanafun including appointments of their sons and daughters into political officers as well as the peace restored in the once troubled area.
He said the people will reciprocate his goodwill by voting for him, revealing that, Governor Udom was born in ikot Etim , Ukanafun and therefore, is their son.

A cross section of Ukanafun people who trooped out in their numbers expressed gratitude to the governor for remembering Ukanafun, where no road has been constructed for years.
