...AS APC FLAGS-OFF SOUTH SOUTH  CAMPAIGN IN AKWA IBOM STATE

Uko Etim
The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, Comr. Adams Oshiomhole has warned Nigerians against the candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar on his plans to sell and privatize NNPC.

He made the warning during the Flag-off of APC South South Presidential Campaign in Uyo, the state capital on Friday 28th, December 2018.

While reacting to the statement by the flag-bearer of PDP, Oshiomhole said " Mr President this is dear to my heart, when I was in NST, we had a programme which we tag NIGERIA NOT FOR SELL, the PDP candidate has already put Nigerians on notice that he is going to sell NNPC. I believe that the people of south south where the oil is produced will not support a government whose policy is to take over all our resources" he said.

He appreciated Buhari for flagging- off his campaign in South South zone, adding that Buhari is a leader who leaves by example, and one who is celebrated by world leaders. Oshiomhole also said that President can travel to all parts of the world unlike the opposition candidate who can not.

" Let me appreciate the honour done to us by His Excellelency, President Muhammadu Buhari ,the leader who leads by example, the one with intergrity, the one that is celebrated by the world leaders, the President who can go to America and stand inch-to-inch with Obama and Trump, not those who can't get visa outside Nigeria. ...we are honoured that you are flagging off your campaign in the South South geopolitical zones", he said.

Oshiomhole maintained that one major issue that will form the base of the 2019 elections will be on the issue of character, adding that the opposition party has been looking for what to accuse Mr President of but without success.

"This coming election, one of the issues that will form the bases of our campaign is the issue of character and I notice over the past 48 hours that the opposition, particularly the PDP has decided to look for more whatever they can find to throw at your person, the more they do it, the more the people are laughing at them ", he added

In his address, The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Mohammdu Buhari thanked the party for organizing the get together to flag-off campaign against 2019, adding that his administration has been able to deliver on the 3 key promises of security, economy and fighting corruption, he urged the opposition to challenged him if doubting.

"If you could recall 2015 we went across the length and width of this country and we did our campaign base on 3 fundamental principles: security, economy and fighting corruption. I like those who want to challenge us at any level, at any constituency  to doubt our contribution through our undertaking", he said

Speaking on his achievements, he said that his government has been able to recover all the 17 local government taken over by the Boko haram insurgents in Bornu and Yobe state, adding that the insurgents are now using young men and women to execute their evil plans, he assured to completely eliminate them.

"The civil war in the North-East has been really won in the sense that when I came in, in 2015 Boko Haram were holding about 17 local government in Bornu and Yobe State , they are not holding any local government now. They have decided to indoctrinate our young men and women, dress them up with explosives and explode themselves in churches, Mosque, market places and motor parks, I assure you we will wipe them out, "he added .

Speaking, the APC national party leader,  Asiwaju Tinubu, while Reacting to the accusations of the flag-bearer of the opposition party PDP, Atiku Abubakar on 2019 budget, said "is shallow, full of contradictions and is nothing that Nigerians should hope for "

He urged Nigerians to re-elect President Buhari and  vote APC government who will give hope as well as diversifying the economy, adding that Akwa Ibom as the largest producers of crude oil will continue to enjoy the support of the federal government through the renewal of infrastructural development.

"For the sake of Nigeria, we will re-elect President Mohammdu Buhari, we will re-elect APC government that will give us hope , that gives you a diversified economy. Akwa Ibom, you are the one the largest producers of petroleum, we will continue to support on renaissance and renewal of your infrastructural development"

Tinubu, who expressed disappointment over the 16years of PDP rule of the country, said " 16 years of miserable economy, corrosive economy of PDP will not come back to this economy, we are strongly determined to change the vessel of governance of this country "

He said that APC government is building on a new foundation which will favour the youths, elderly as well as future generations unborn.

"We are building on a new foundation and that foundation is for you the youths, elderly and tomorrow's children, vote for your future, guard against corruption. They gave you 16 years of darkness", he said.

The high point of the event was the official handing over of flag to President Muhammadu Buhari, Nsima Ekere of Akwa Ibom State, Great Ogbolu of Delta State, John Enoh of Cross River State,  and  Tonye Cole of River State
