...WANT AK POLICE BOSS REPLACED* The Akwa Ibom House of Assembly has ordered for the immediate arrest and prosecution of a retired Sergeant-at-arms identified as Godwin Ukpong, together with the five sacked lawmakers  Nse Ntuen, Idongesit Ituen, Gabriel Toby, Victor Udofia, and Otobong Ndem for breaking into and desecrating the chambers of the Assembly. This was one of the seven prayers of a motion which was moved by the House Leader, Udo Kierian Akpan, and seconded by the Deputy Leader, Ime Okon which also banned the former members from coming  near the premises of the State Assembly. The lawmakers also resolved that the new police commissioner, Musa Kimo be replaced immediately for complicity in the illegal invasion of the chambers. They passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of the Speaker, Barr. Onofiok Luke for his leadership qualities and for standing by the provisions of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Standing Orders of the House, a

Udom Emnanuel has no respect for separation of powers

Udom Emnanuel has no respect for separation of powers By Christian Essien  Governor Udom Emmanuel appears to have finally launched the first salvo in the war he was advised to prepare for some months ago by none other than his former campaign director general. And he aimed straight for the very heart of democracy; the parliament itself. There is no other way to interpret the invasion of the Akwa Ibom State  this morning, by Udom Emmanuel's thugs, while those direct, grassroot representatives of the people were in session, to conduct the people's business. In our system of constitutional democratic government, there are three arms of government; the executive, to operate the business of government on a day-to-day basis, the legislature; to make the laws that guide such operation and the judiciary, to interpret those laws and ensure that their operation is done according to law. The effective, legal and constitutional operation of this system is anchored on a concept that s

Count Senator Akpabio out of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly crisis

Count Senator Akpabio out of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly crisis The attention of the Senator, representing Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, Godswill Akpabio, has been drawn to a statement credited to the. governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Udom Emmanuel alleging the involvement of the former Senate Minority Leader in the ongoing crisis in the state House of Assembly. Ordinarily, the Distigushed Senator wouldn't have bothered to respond to the spurious  allegation because it is contrived to malign his integrity and stands logic on its head. However, it follows a clear pattern of crying wolf by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) since the Senator who was the live wire of the party in the State  left the party to join the All Progressives Congress (APC.) The strategy by the PDP and its chieftains is that anything and everything must be pinned on Senator Akpabio. In his desperation to shop for who to blame and pass the buck, Governor Udom Emmanuel has blamed the security age

AKHA: Attempted Invasion of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly by APC thugs

*GOVERNMENT OF AKWA IBOM STATE OF NIGERIA* Press Release Attempted Invasion of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly by APC thugs The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly was invaded in the early hours of today by suspected thugs of APC dressed in military uniforms and under the protection of the police, on the orders of the Akwa Ibom State Police Commissioner. Normalcy was restored however by the timely visit of the Akwa Ibom State Governor, His Excellency, Mr Udom Emmanuel. The visit of Governor to the House of Assembly was clearly in line with his position as the chief security officer of the state. The Governor has a moral and constitutional responsibility to legally protect lives and properties in the state. It is pertinent to note prior to this, 13 APC thugs dressed in military uniforms and armed with AK47 rifles were apprehended by law abiding citizens and handed over to the police. However, it defies logic that these hoodlums were set free without due process of investigatio

AKHA: NIGERIA POLICE THREATENING PEACE, DEMOCRACY IN AKWA IBOM SAYS GOVERNOR EMMANUEL

NIGERIA POLICE THREATENING PEACE, DEMOCRACY IN AKWA IBOM SAYS GOVERNOR EMMANUEL Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, has broken the silence over the activities of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) joining forces with thugs and criminals to cause breakdown of law and order, thereby threatening democracy in the country and the relative peace currently enjoyed in the state. The Governor said this while briefing the Akwa Ibom media community on Tuesday after resolving the dispute at the State House of Assembly caused by five sacked APC members of the House, with the aide of the police to lay siege at the Assembly with the sole aim of impeaching the Speaker, Barr. Onofiok Luke, and suspend the other 20 House members.
