IME OKON'S ANNUAL QUIZ COMPETITION AWARD CEREMONY HOLDS TOMMORROW

The prize giving day for winners of the Sixth and Seventh editions of the Ime Okon's Annual Quiz Competition of Primary, Junior and Senior Secondary Schools holds tomorrow, Wednesday, 28th November, 2018.

The event which will take place at Union Secondary School, Ibiaku, Ibiono Ibom LGA will mark the seventh year of Rt. Hon. (Barr) Ime Bassey Okon sponsoring the programme.

Speaking to Journalists in Uyo, the Ibiono Ibom representative in the State Asaembly, Barr. Okon disclosed that a seasoned academic, Prof Okon Ifut will be the Chairman on the occasion.

Also in attendance will be eminent sons and daughters of the State in the academia, members of the State House of Assembly, Royal Fathers, political and business class, Parents and Guardians, among others.

The Ibiono Ibom Lawmaker who is also the Deputy Leader of the Sixth Assembly, said the aim of the exercise was to support the State Government's Free and Compulsory Education as well as encouraging his constituents to perform optimally in school so they can compete with other revered institutions within and outside the country.

In the highlight will be the presentation of no fewer than sixty television sets, education grant, education materials and other fabulous prizes to be presented to pupils and Students in fulfillment of the lawmaker's promise to offer effective representation to every Ibiono Ibom constituents.

The event will also feature the payment of Bursary to Ibiono Ibom students in tertiary institutions.

The Management of Union Secondary School, Ibiaku, will be appreciated for hosting the event for seven years. Organizers of the competition will also be rewarded.

It is a known fact that the lawmaker has over the years assuaged the financial burden of Ibiono Ibom indigents in education aspect  through various scholarship schemes for undergraduates in Nigerian recognized tertiary institutions.
