AK INFO BOSS CROWNED PILLAR OF SPORTS




Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Charles Udoh has been named "Pillar of Sports",  in recognition of his numerous contributions to the development and growth of Sports in Akwa Ibom State.

The pronouncement was made by the University of Uyo Students' Union Government in a letter of Appreciation sent to the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, signed by the Director of Sports, Etok David.

The Information Boss was particularly commended for single-handedly sponsoring the 2017/2018 Inter-departmental Football Competition of the University of Uyo and for the donation of Jerseys during the 2016/2017 academic session to the University of Uyo Football team with the imprint of Governor Udom Emmanuel.

The letter contained that the Commissioner has done his best for Sports in the University as the Jerseys donated by him became the home jersy used by the University of Uyo Football team in the just concluded West Africa University Games held at the University of Port Harcourt and described Charles Udoh as a Pillar of Sports.

It further expressed with gratitude that budding footballers were discovered during the inter-departmental Football Competition and over 40% of players in the inter- departmental football tournament made it to the University team that played at the West Africa University games.

Worthy of note is that 2 of the Footballers from the University of Uyo were picked during the Port Harcourt tournament to represent Team Nigerian Universities in the World University Games, the letter read in part.

The students expressed thanks to the Information Boss who has been instrumental to all the successes recorded so far in sports by the University of Uyo and intimated that the UniUyo players used the Jerseys to sing the song of "Udom 2019" to the whole West Africa as well as that of the Information Boss, Charles Udoh, the Pillar of Sports, himself an alumnus and former footballer in the school team of University of Uyo.

It would be recalled that in addition to all the contributions of the State Information helmsman to the development of Sports in Uniuyo, he has also contributed immensely to the successes of Akwa United Football club through the donation of welfare packages and football kits to the team and crew members as well as the floating of "Charles Udoh Unity Football Cup" to hunt and develop budding football stars.
