REPENTANT MILITANTS FOR REHABILITATION SOON - AKSG

The Akwa Ibom State Government has disclosed that it is currently making frantic international contacts to ensure that repentant militants from Etim Ekpo and Ukanafun Local Government Areas recently granted amnesty by the State Government are better rehabilitated.

The State Deputy Governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo, said this in Ukanafun where he attended the thanksgiving and consultation meeting of the Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District candidate of the People's Democratic Party, Dr. Chris Ekpenyong.

Mr. Ekpo noted that Government was optimistic that the international connections being explored by Governor Udom Emmanuel will yield positive results to facilitate a much more impactful rehabilitation of the repentant militant youths of the affected areas to enable them to be useful to themselves and the society.

He assured the people that Government would spared no efforts in rehabilitating and empowering the youths for their sustainable and meaningful life.

Mr. Ekpo urged the people of the area to support term bid of Governor Udom Emmanuel for his people-oriented projects and programmes to be accomplished effectively.

He described the candidature of Dr. Chris Ekpenyong as the best thing to have happened to the people of the Senatorial District considering his credible and remarkable profile, adding that he is a good material that will give the people of the Senatorial District effective and gainful representation.

Earlier in his address, the Director General of Dr. Chris Ekpenyong's Campaign Organization, Senator Ibok Essien, noted that the choice of Dr. Chris Ekpenyong was the overall decision of the people of the District as practically demonstrated during the recent People's Democratic Party's Senatorial District Primaries.

Senator Essien, while presenting Dr. Chris Ekpenyong to the people, called on the people to stand with Dr. Chris Ekpenyong and continue to support the only performing political Party in Nigeria, the People's Democratic Party.

In his response, the PDP's Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District flag-bearer, Dr. Chris Ekpenyong, thanked the people for choosing him and the confidence reposed in him to represent them at the nation's Senate.

Dr. Ekpenyong assured the people of his avowed determination to make the voice of the people heard and their cause fought for in order to make them relevant among the comity of nations in the country.

The event witnessed great sons and daughters of the Senatorial district including Obong Eno Akpan, Obong Bassey Inuaeyen, Hon. Otobong Akpan, among others.
