21st Century Governance/Leadership is about Job and Wealth Creation... Unyime Idem

... I will raise new generation of Entrepreneurs.

By Ubong Ben and Vincent Aluu.

The People Democratic Party (PDP) Candidate for Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency,
Mr. Unyime Idem, has promised to raise new generation of entrepreneurs, self-reliant and productive youths from among his constituents and beyond when elected into office next year as Federal House of Representatives Member.

He made this known on Sunday, 25th November, 2019, during the Flag-off of his campaigns in Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel), Ukanafun and the unveiling of his Federal Constituency Empowerment Centre nicknamed "Obot Uboho".

"As a successful entrepreneur myself, I am in this race to change the representative narratives of my people, to utilise the opportunity my position will offer to raise and groom new set of business, information technology and agriculture entrepreneurs. I know that 21st century governance/leadership is about job and wealth creation and also providing a future that puts food on the table of the people. I will engage the youths constructively thereby reducing, perhaps exterminate insecurity and militancy in our environment".

He listed restructuring/fiscal federalism, industrialisation, agriculture revolution and job/wealth creation as his key areas of his Legislative Agenda. To accomplish these and more, he promised to take his job as Federal Lawmaker when elected very seriously both "on and off" plenary. No more absentee representation as presently experienced from our serving member in the Green Chambers.

The successful Business Mogul posited that with his core values of
I -  Inspiration
D- Development
E-  Empowerment
M- Motivation,
I will ensure our youths are usefully engaged through scholarships, skills acquisition programmes and gainful employment/entrepreneurship, our women empowered through trading, agro-based business and cooperative activities and our elders maintained as resource persons in contract transactions and other initiatives. My agenda is all embracing.

The renowned Philanthropist and Telecom Magnet further stated that "only a life lived for the service of others is a life well lived; and that, the ultimate test of a man's conscience is his willingness to sacrifice something today for the future generations whose words of thanks will not be heard".

The Federal House of Representatives hopeful concluded his speech by re-echoing his personal commitment,
"I understand that leadership is a serious business and as such should not be taken lightly. I hereby make a solemn pledge not to take the mandate you are giving me for granted because the strong and informed must stand for the weak and vulnerable in our society. I will represent you effectively and ensure that your needs, aspirations and challenges are given due attention, so help me God".
