Education industry is the youngest in the world -Prof Ikorok

The Chairman, State Universal Basic Education (SUBEB), Akwa Ibom state, Prof. Maria Ikorok has said that the education industry is the youngest industry in the world today
Prof. Ikorok gave this assertion today in a 12 days capacity building workshop on Strenghtening Mathematics and Science Education (SMASE) with the theme: Planning Better ASEI (Activity Student Center Experience and Improvision) Lesson held across the three Senatorial District of the state.
In her words, "children are born these days and we always have this industry to admit them. I want us to take it as a responsibility to contribute to the development of our societies by making education something that is acceptable for every child. Recognize that there are the one that will be in the helm's of affairs tomorrow.
"The children we train today are the ones that will administer in our estate tomorrow. We should create a future for them by giving our best. Today's world is rule by science and technology. There were people before us and they set great legacies for us today. We must at all cost continued with it for our younger generation", Prof. Maria Ikorok stressed.
She thanked the government of Nigeria and Akwa Ibom state in particular for taking teachers' welfare a top priority. While, maintained that many teachers has been trained, educated on various disciplines but they is a need for professional objectives to find tune with innovation in science and technology.
Ikorok reiterated that many children do not like Mathematics but when present to them in innovative ways such, will motivate them to develop interest for science subjects.
Adding that the community and every invention is science oriented.
She urged the participants to extend the training to others colleagues colleagues.
The National Coordinator, SMASE, Federal Ministry of Education, Abuja Mr. Chimezie Aguiyi in his remarked said that it is to train teachers from the primitive ideals of teaching. Adding that this will help to make classrooms very interactive and the results will be very high at the end.
According to him, " please be punctual, to gain something that you would share with your colleagues. Don't strolled in and strolled out. Acquire the knowledge first that you will share.
One of the facilitators, SMASE Victor Obot said that the training will help participants to create the curricular into topics and analyse them for the children to have vivid understanding of the topics by the pupils. He added that it will help to handle topics like ratio, proportion, erosion effectively for the children to understand it very well.
