By Ifiokabasi Abia

As the saying goes, “When the righteous are on the throne, the people rejoice.”This timeless truth perfectly reflects the leadership style of Rt. Hon. Otobong Essien, Executive Chairman of **Ikono Local Government Council.

The 70th birthday celebration and thanksgiving service of Elder Edet Effiong Udofia, a seasoned administrator and long-serving works supervisor, held special significance as it coincided with the one-year anniversary thanksgiving service** of the Ikono Local Government Council.

The atmosphere came alive with jubilation and cheers upon the arrival of the council boss. The electrifying excitement in the air reflected the people’s love, admiration, and social acceptance of the Rt. Hon. Otobong Essien-led administration—one that has remained steadfast in its people-centered approach to governance.

Rt. Hon. Essien has consistently demonstrated a passion for human development and welfare. His leadership style bridges the gap between government and the governed, embodying a “people first” philosophy rarely seen in modern politics. Where others might find excuses, Essien finds solutions and opportunities to uplift his people.

Elder Effiong Udofia at 70 represents a life of purpose, compassion, and service. A man who has loved generously and lived for others regardless of class, status, or political affiliation, Elder Udofia is admired for his open heart and humility. He welcomes everyone who crosses his path and treats all with equal respect.

It is no wonder that dignitaries, including the Ikono Council Chairman, Rt. Hon. Otobong Essien, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Religious Matters, were present to honor, dance, and celebrate with him.

Rt. Hon. Otobong Essien is the new face of leadership in Ikono LGA.

Both Rt. Hon. Otobong Essien and Elder Effiong Udofia share a deep passion for people. Their lives exemplify the virtue of servant leadership — the kind that reaches out, celebrates with others, and builds community spirit.

When you are free, people centered, you become a jinx breaker.

Indeed, true leadership is not about power or position but about connection and compassion. Through such celebrations and genuine acts of fellowship, **Ikono people** are reminded that governance is best when it touches lives directly and inclusively.

Therefore, when you are good, you are good. Rt. Otobong Essien, Ikono Local Government Council boss is a good person. She means well for Ikono people and Ikono LGA.
