Hon Onofiok Luke's vituperation against Senator Akpabio

The attention of the Senator representing Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District, Senator Godswill Akpabio has been drawn to statements credited to the member representing Nsit Ubium State Constituency, Hon Onofiok Luke to the effect that Senator Akpabio sent some persons to assassinate him on Tuesday, November 27, 2018.

Hon Luke is said to have made this statement while addressing a group of sponsored women protesters at the House of Assembly Complex on Wednesday, November 28, 2018. This is a lie from the pit of hell.

Just yesterday we had alerted Nigerians to the strategy of crying wolf by the chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a devilish resolve to malign the reputation of Senator Akpabio. This latest outburst by Hon Luke is a further confirmation of our caution on the attempt to denigrate Senator Akpabio since his movement from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC.)

For the avoidance of doubt we wish to state categorically that Senator Akpabio has not sent anyone to assassinate Hon Luke. He has no reason nor motivation to do so. The Senator will never subscribe to any plot to eliminate any Akwa Ibom son or any human being for that matter, let alone Onofiok Luke who had served him as his Personal Assistant while he was the Governor of Akwa Ibom State.

As a lawyer, we believe Hon Luke knows what to do if ever there was any attempt to assassinate him, rather than mounting the podium to make such phantom claim. The statement by Hon Luke is not only spurious but false and malicious and the figment of his wild imagination. Senator Akpabio takes very strong exception to this campaign of calumny by Hon Luke and others and will not take this accusation lightly.

Much as we know that this is a season for political campaigns, infantile outbursts should not be a strategy to denigrate those who belong to different political parties. The public should ignore this as attention seeking and political hallucination by the lawmaker.
