Prophet Ekong Ituen has raised fresh concerns over the Federal Government’s counter-terrorism efforts, warning that alleged infiltration of insurgent sympathisers within President Bola Tinubu’s administration could undermine the ongoing fight against terrorism.
In a statement issued on December 8, 2025, the cleric said President Tinubu is committed to combating terrorism but may have unknowingly placed trust in individuals who do not support his mission. He argued that only divine intervention, alongside careful internal scrutiny, would expose those working against the government’s security objectives.
Ituen stressed that Nigeria must combine spiritual vigilance with military operations, noting that Boko Haram functions as an ideology-driven movement. According to him, inducements, negotiations or appeasement are unlikely to deter the group from its long-standing agenda.
He urged the government to take decisive action once any saboteurs are identified, warning that delays could weaken national security efforts.
