EMMANUEL AMAMA: APOSTLE OF HUMANITY

Emmanuel Amama                  IFIOKABASI Abia What is the prayer of many? Some replied 'live a good life', 'take care of myself', 'plan for my old age', 'plan for my family', 'celebrate my birthday in a grand style'. All of this prayers are good but the ultimate goal of life is to leave a legacy to humanity. What will the unborn generation remember you for? Like Jesus Christ, as it is recorded in Mathew chapter five; the Bible says Jesus preach the gospel and heal the sick. After, three days when the people wanted to go, he had compassion for them.  He asked his disciples if any bread is available for them feed. Peter replied, there is no market for them to buy bread, excep a little lad with five loaves of bread and two fishes. Jesus knew what is going on with the people. Some will get home without bread. He asked Peter to get the bread from the lad.  Thank God for Jesus, Jesus was Jesus. He prayed, bless the

UDOM: AKPABIO IN THE SHOES OF PETER ODILI

By Franklyn Isong For many who may not know, Dr. Peter Odili is the former governor of Rivers State. He served from 1999 to 2007. He did his best and contributed his quota for the state and its people. During his first tenure, I was residing in Rivers. I had a lot of friends in his government most of them are the big boys of today in the Rivers politics. Hardly a name is mentioned in Rivers politics today without tracing such person to the political generosity of Peter Odili or his administration. As a non-indigene in Rivers at that time, I used to jealous the indigenes, even though, I felt the impact of his largess through the good governance of his administration. At a point, Odili became a household name in the South South especially during the resource control struggle of the Niger delta region. He was generous to a fault. The people of Niger Delta (south south) region admired this man’s kindheartedness and in return, they adopted his usual dressing attires popularly called

Senator Godswill Akpabio is our Leader

Prior to the end of OBONG Attahs administration, Emmanuel Ukoette, a dynamic youth leader who led a coalition of youths across the state in support of the administrations re-election was only appointed personal assistant to the then governor on youth mobilization barely few months to the end of the administration. Today that same youth was appointed first, as special assistant to the governor on environment, later GM Ibom Taxi Scheme and today, a three  term member of the green chamber of this country all because of Akpabios Boys to Men leadership development philosophy. I remember vividly the commissioning of the un completed stock exchange building located on the Udo Udoma business district and the public outburst and reservations of the then president of the commission, over the deceit of such commissioning. I remember how a visibly angry former president of this country asked for the IPP to switched on when he was invited to commission the plant, even after the

Oh! Godswill Akpabio (2)

Those who showed love or claimed to have loved Godswill Obot Akpabio are leading a war. They've culled a section of wisdom to defend their action. They now wear new garments. Quite different from the past. And different from what they told us. So full of defense, just to sustain the tempo of political enchantments. They are up in arms against the uncommon man for committing a moral wrong.  Yes, to them, Godswill Akpabio played god, not until now. When they suddenly realized themselves. What then happens to the former political guidelines? Now is the time for biased differentiation.    Within this period, Godswill Akpabio might have returned to the drawing board. But will he still find anything written there? Because, his friends or enemies might have played a fast one on him. Whatever happens should teach him that everything goes, everything comes back. Eternally rolls the wheel of being. Everything dies, everything blossoms again. Eternally runs the year of being. Ever

Is Nsima Ekere is still coming!

After the elections, comes reactions. Punching in high places. Nothing seems so brutal than an otherwise strong argument against a popular candidate. In perilous times like this, any man goes. Anything different from the one currently faced by the APC governorship candidate, Obong Nsima Ekere is a flying game. Before now, Nsima had dropped a message. Urging people to be confident. He promised to be closer than a brother. And sticker than blood. That he's coming for good. And that, when he comes. Things will be done the proper way.  Just like the biblical waiting for the son of God. Many Akwa Ibomites were anxious, patiently waiting for the coming of Nsima Ekere. It was like tsunami. Swept everyone off their feet. 'Nsima Is coming' filled the air. Coming to where was the question. Wherever he was coming to. Whatever he was coming for. Wherever he was coming from. Whatever he intended coming to do. Was never in the consciousness of anyone. But they all followed

FOR INGRATES, TRAITORS : AN ALLOCUTUS

Sen. Akpabio and Gov Udom Emmanuel. By Dr. UDEME NANA.   Three concepts; disloyalty, ingratitude and betrayal now trend on the front burner of political discourse in Akwa Ibom State. The question anchors on who, between Governor Udom Emmanuel and his supporters on one hand, and Senator Godswill Akpabio, on the other, who are the real culprits of these character flaws?   A school of thought believes that given the circumstance whereby most of those at the commanding heights of the present government and political party in power in the state emerged into political reckoning courtesy of Senator Godswill Akpabio while he served as Governor, that they should owe eternal allegiance and remain subservient (loyal) to the former Governor; kow- tow, genuflect to him and move with him like a herd wherever the former Senate Minority Leader goes. The Jury here forecloses disagreement, expression of divergent views and condemns such dissenters as betrayers, disloyal ingrat

Mike Igini, ogini?

Igini By Gideon Ekere This joke is a serious one. Because it is making us suffer a throwback to the era of political buccaneers. It's not that funny, but painful in disguise. The anger is increasing. No more as usual. Making time and human enemies. And we are still wondering. Where an election umpire brought a die-hearted fellow from. Wherever, whoever he is, we will get to know more in the-yet-to-be unfolded movie. After jogging many kilometers to escape political dragons. Another one emerged from the moon. Just like my Igbo friends would exclaim. After being threatened by an ugly scene. Ogini kwano? Meaning, what is it. I've been forced to jump into the ring. Just to meet a man who came to serve. But has refused to serve with his two hands. I possibly want to ask him a democratic question. Expressed with a million thought. And then leaves him to his ancestral feelings. If not properly answered, hearts will be trembled. Because times are dangerous. Cu

Suleiman Zarma, the Minister of State for Power, Works and Housing, disclosed this while briefing State House correspondents after the FEC meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Zarma said that the contract was awarded in 2012, but the augmentation had to come following some observations by the contractor. “FEC has given approval for the augmentation of the contract for construction of Ikot-Ekpene border-Aba-Owerri Road, Section 1, Phase 1 and the length is 11.26km. “The contract was awarded in 2012 to Arab Contractors at the cost of N3.78bn; it came up for augmentation because the contractor actually observed some failures in the contract around some sections of the road. Federal High Court versus Court of Appeal: How PDP is creating chaos in the judiciary

Prompted and induced  by the PDP, Justice F. O. Rinman of the Federal High Court, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State is about to create a major judicial anarchy. The judge will this week give an order barring the President of the Court of Appeal from performing one of its statutory functions which is deciding the venue of the sitting of the Akwa Ibom Election Petition Tribunal. When this order is granted, Justice F O Rinman would have succeeded in pitching the Federal High Court against the Court of Appeal, which is a superior court, and in the process could create one of the most embarrassing judicial crises in the country. How did Justice Rinman dabble into this? Soon after the governorship election on March 9, the PDP filed a motion in the federal high court, Uyo, against the President of the Court of Appeal and the Honourabe Attorney General of the Federation, seeking an Order of the court to bar the President of the Court of Appeal from relocating the sitting of the Election Petition Tri

UNIUYO Man O' War arrests robber at gunpoint

Officers of the Man O' War University of Uyo Command earlier today arrested an armed man who specializes in waylaying students and robbing them of valuables on campus. He was caught in the early hours of today at ECN Block by Man O War officials, after they sighted him robbing some students of their phones and laptops at gunpoint. The Man O' War officials alongside some members of Thunderbolt, who were on early morning training exercise, quickly swung into action and overpowered him, recovering a locally-made pistol, phones and a laptop. On interrogation, he gave his name as Daniel Clement and confessed to have been perpetuating the act for a while. Narrating the incident, one of the officers said "while we were jogging during our morning drills, we sighted the guy pointing a gun at students, we quickly mobilised and ran there and overpowered him just as he was about collecting the laptop from the guy and we also recovered the gun." "In line with t
