Cletus Bassey to Delegates God will punish you if you don’t vote your conscience – Livenewsguns

                   Cletus  Bassey

Priscilla Christopher

Ahead of the forthcoming primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party next week, the State Coordinator of Akwa Ibom Christian Assembly (ACA) and former Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Akwa Ibom State Chapter, Arch Bishop Cletus Bassey has placed a curse on delegates who will betray their consciences for any form of bribery by unordained aspirants.

The clergyman placed the spiritual injunction during the prayer meeting of ACA held on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Destiny Chapel International, Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo, with the theme: “Uprooting the Altar of Stagnation”.

Addressing a large crowd of ACA coordinators, pastors and youth leaders from the 31 Local Government Areas of the State, Arch Bishop Bassey noted that they were gathered because God had given them the mandate to speak about the affairs of the State and its political arrangements.

He described ACA as an altar built by fathers of faith in the State to show God’s way of leadership to the people, adding that the ‘altar’ has seen and birthed prominent leaders and ministries presently and in times past.

“Any man who ignores this altar ignores his ambition because this altar has seen many Governors and marked the beginning of many ministries. So, no strange prophet will sit a Governor in this State”, he stated emphatically.

Commenting on the ongoing power tussle in the State, the clergyman averred that the contention over who governs that State is an altar issue.

“Akwa Ibom State is undergoing the battle of the altar. The occults have positioned themselves to take-over the State. People are contending for the soul of this Sate but ACA’s position is that Akwa Ibom is neither on sale nor for sale. I know who will not be the Governor of this State and who will be so, I encourage everyone to stand still and see the foundation of the lord”, he maintained.

To the two major political parties in the State, the Coordinator forewarned of the emergence of another Party if they fail to remain organized. “To parties, if you don’t put your houses in order, unknown parties will overtake you. Let us not sabotage the process but allow it to sail smoothly”, he advised.

Corrobowrating his position, the social governance ideologists, Arc. Nyaetok argued that neither politics nor governance was a do or die affair. He stressed that the desire to lead the State in any capacity must be fueled by genuine trust for the processes involved without any form of interference, and the spirit of solidarity for those who eventually emerge winners.

While commending ACA for the concern shown for the State, he assured that he will accept and follow their choice for the 2023 governorship seat when they make such person known.

The meeting featured series of prayer for the State Executive Council, the upcoming primaries, the successful execution of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s completion agenda, God’s choice of the next Governor, a smooth handing-over as well as restoration of the State.

Officiating the prayer sessions were: Bishop Paul Ekpo, Bishop Blessing Bassey; Pastor Angela Ashong, Prof. Ashong Ashong, Apostle Nyeneime Andy, Prophet Udo Udo, Apostle Thompson Etuk, among others.
