The Member Representing Abak State Constituency, Rt. Hon. Elder Udeme Otong yesterday crippled the member representing Essien udim, Prince Ukpong Akpabio ll and emerged as the speaking speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, AKHA.

Report revealed that Rt. Hon. Otong, pulled 20 votes to defeat Prince Ukpong Akpabio, member representing Essien Udim State Constituency, who got 6 votes.

The Speaker elect was nominated by Rt. Hon. Effiong Johnson, member representing Mbo State Constituency while Prince Ukpong Akpabio was nominated by member representing Etinan State Constituency.

Meanwhile, Rt. Hon. Kufreabasi Edidem member representing Itu State Constituency claimed the mantle as the 8th Assembly unopposed as Deputy Speaker.

Moreover, Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong is season Parliamentarian and he is returned for a second term while, Hon Prince Akpabio ll is the first timer in the AKHA.

The newly elected leadership of eight Assembly and his contender was latter received by Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno at Government House Uyo.
