Udo Kierian doles out free medical mission in A'Ibom

Hope for medical services has rekindled on over 5000 people across Akwa Ibom State and it environs, and have benefited from the third edition of free medical and surgical mission organized by the immediate past House Leader of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Udo Kierian in collaboration with the Foundation Marooned, FOMA, United States of America at Primary Health Centre, Ikot Esenam.




Speaking at the closing ceremony dinner held in Uyo today, with the medical and non medical volunteers, Rt. Hon. Udo Kierian Akpan appreciated the the contribution of people and for the show of professionalism and conduct at the just concluded seven days free medical outreach.



Akpan added that his passion about the health care of people became his top priority which urged him in giving back to the society and to give hope to the hopeless as it would raise the quality of lives in the area, promote a healthy, crime free society and prosperity for all.


According to Rt. Hon. Udo Kierian Akpan said that, "my fear was eliminated by the conduct and professionalism discharged by the medical personnels in line with global best practices. The seven days free medical mission was to harness healthy living among the people. We will do it again next year. It is interesting to note such a week long medical services without complained and rancor among the health care beneficiaries."



"Since 2018, when we began this exercise, today we have recorded tremendous success as this service lasted. I say thank you. We will do it again next year," Udo Kierian said.


Akpan lauded FOMA for consistency, dedication and commitment to save lives. Adding that the best way to live is to give back to the society.



The Director of operations, FOMA, Dr. Emayak Egavigba in her response, said that this year edition is the best of it kind as no fatality recoded. The total number of people attended to was 1,500 from Rivers, Akwa Ibom State, Cross River States. 110 successful surgeries conducted out of which 20 were children and 95 other case was anchored with drugs.

She commended and described Rt. Hon. Udo Kierian Akpan the immediate past House Leader and Member of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, as a meticulous colosus for health care  and rate his passion for the people high.


The Secretary of Nigeria Medical Association, Dr. Usenobong Morgan in his goodwill message, thanked God for a successful surgeries, appreciated volunteers who put in their best to record such a huge success.


Morgan who represented the Chairman of NMA, Dr. Mrs Godwin Abraham, maintained that, the dignity of people who came for the mission was on top of mission. 


He commended  Rt. Hon. Udo Kierian Akpan the immediate past House Leader of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly for being  committed to the well-being of the people in the area.


In appreciation by some of the beneficiaries Mr. Anderson Ubokudom; Kufre Ezekiel had a major operations in their separate responses while fielding questions with the press commended Rt. Hon. Udo Kierian Akpan the immediate past House Leader of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly. He added that it is a major relieved and the harsh economy crippled his efforts but through this gesture made it possible.

Highpoint of the free medical mission was120 free medicated eye glasses, dispensed of drugs worth millions of naira free of charge.
