DR. CHRIS OKONGKO BAGS GLOBAL HUMANITARIAN HONOURS

 




• Named 2025 South-South Nigeria Humanitarian Personality 


History was again inscribed on the sands of humanitarian excellence at the South-South Nigeria Excellence Awards 2025, when Dr Christopher Okongko, President of the Okongko Charity Foundation, was decorated with the prestigious South-South Nigerian Humanitarian Personality Award by the Global Skills Hub, United Kingdom. 


The high-profile investiture staged at Autograph, New G.R.A., Port Harcourt, drew dignitaries —  thought leaders, industry top brass, international investors, development advocates, professors/academics and politicians together under one roof.



The coveted award, observers say, is more than a ceremonial plaque; it is a global imprimatur of distinction, affirming Dr. Okongko’s transformative interventions in social welfare, poverty alleviation, and community development across Nigeria and Africa.


For decades, Dr. Okongko has pioneered life-touching initiatives through the Okongko Charity Foundation, deploying strategic humanitarian packages that have cushioned economic shocks, uplifted vulnerable populations, and rekindled hope among the less privileged. 


For the umpteenth time, available record shows that the Foundation, has lifted thousands of Nigerians, nay Africans from hopeless conditions to places of hope and economic relevance. These feats, the Foundation achieved through sponsorship of well over two thousand (2000) less privileged but brilliant and willful students in both Secondary and Tertiary institutions,  sponsorship of health outreaches for the aged, children and people with disabilities, provision of infrastructure in rural schools such as desks, computers and back-to -school kits, maintenance of public infrastructure at civic/community centres, provision and rehabilitation of pipe borne water projects in the rural communities, grading of rural roads, provision of grants to farmers, business support to entrepreneurs, facilitation and creation of hundreds of jobs to youths, hosting of sporting activities in the rural communities, provision of platforms for mentorship in business, entrepreneur and career choice, partnership with the media, other organisations and the government to further drive humanitarian ideals in the African continent, amongst others. 


A goodwill message, signed by the African Representative, Sir Daniel Ekanem on behalf of the Board of Trustees, Management, and Staff of the Okongko Charity Foundation, extolled their President’s resilience and foresight, describing the recognition as “a catalytic moment that will further galvanize his vision for deeper humanitarian footprints and sustainable community empowerment.”


Sir Ekanem who represented Dr. Okongko on the epoch-making occasion expressed optimism that the global honour will re-energize their Boss and Founder, Dr. Chris Okongko to do more by broadening the frontiers of his humanitarian outreach, urging him to continue serving as a lighthouse of hope in a continent yearning for renewal.


The letter of felicitation reads in part:

The Deputy Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Amadu Attai, and the State Caucus Chairman of the party, Atuekong Don Etiebet, have declared that the APC has taken over Oruk Anam, the largest local government area in the state.
