Says Adeleke’s exclusion from APC contributed to party’s setback; predicts Omisore will become Osun Governor
Prophet Ekong Ituen has renewed his criticism of former Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, over what he described as the decision to prevent Governor Ademola Adeleke from crossing over to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to Ituen, he had earlier warned that shutting the door against Adeleke would place the party at a political disadvantage and weaken its prospects of securing victory.
“I warned you, but you didn’t listen. You blocked Governor Ademola Adeleke from crossing over to the APC, and I told you at the time that your decision would put the party at a serious disadvantage in its quest for victory,” Ituen said.
The prophet maintained that subsequent political developments had vindicated his earlier warning, alleging that personal political interests were allowed to take precedence over the wider interests of the party.
“Today, the outcome has vindicated my warning. Your party lost because personal political interests were placed above the broader interest of the party. Sometimes, political decisions made out of personal considerations can come back with painful consequences,” he added.
Ituen also reaffirmed his earlier prediction concerning former Deputy Governor and Senator, Iyiola Omisore, declaring that he would eventually become Governor of Osun State.
“Let me reaffirm what I have said before: Senator Iyiola Omisore will, in the future, become the Governor of Osun State. I stand by that prediction,” he declared.
The prophet said he remained convinced about the political future of Omisore, adding that, in his words, “only death can stop him.”
Ituen urged political actors in Osun State to place the collective interest above personal ambitions, stressing that political decisions made today could have far reaching consequences tomorrow.
