DAVIDO CELEBRATES GOVERNOR ADELEKE’S VICTORY: A LITMUS TEST FOR ABAK/ETIM EKPO/IKA FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY
Popular Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has celebrated the victory of his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, in Osun State, describing the outcome as a powerful reminder that political power ultimately belongs to the people.
For the people of Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency, the development presents an important lesson ahead of the 2027 National Assembly and presidential elections.
The political reality is becoming clearer: the people cannot be taken for granted. Political structures, federal influence and party machinery may be powerful, but the final decision rests with the electorate.
If the All Progressives Congress (APC) is serious about winning Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency in 2027, it must listen to the people and consider giving the ticket to Engr. Iboro Johnny, FNSE.
The people have seen what he has done, and his record speaks louder than political promises.
Engr. Iboro Johnny, FNSE, facilitated the construction and rehabilitation of about 70 kilometres of road networks across the constituency, including the Afaha Obong–Ukana–Mkpaeyop axis and the 9.5-kilometre Abiakpo road, one of the longest stretches, complemented by street-lighting projects.
He also facilitated the provision of thousands of solar-powered street lights, extending from Ibagwa through Oku Abak and Utu Abak to Ika, while Etim Ekpo also benefited from similar interventions.
What makes these achievements remarkable is that Engr. Iboro Johnny was neither a Local Government Chairman nor a member of the State House of Assembly when these projects were facilitated. He served for only about two years in a relatively small government agency, yet he was able to attract projects of significant value and impact to his people.
That record is now becoming part of the political conversation in Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency.
The lesson from Governor Ademola Adeleke’s victory is simple: elections cannot be permanently decided by political assumptions or the strength of a political machine. When citizens become determined, their collective voice can produce a different outcome.
The same spirit may play out in Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency in 2027.
The people are watching. They are remembering. They are comparing records.
Federal might alone cannot replace genuine grassroots acceptance.
The people of Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency are politically conscious, and they have the constitutional right to choose the person they believe will best represent their interests.
That choice, according to the growing sentiment on the ground, is Engr. Iboro Johnny, FNSE.
The message to the political leadership is therefore clear: listen to the people, respect their choice and give competence, performance and grassroots acceptance a chance.
Because, as the Adeleke victory has demonstrated, power ultimately belongs to the people.
And in 2027, the power to elect the Member representing Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency belongs not to the political system, but to the people.
