2019: NSIKAK EKONG TO THE RESCUE

Manasseh Umoette
It is very easy to detect him in a crow'd, standing tall and regal. He cuts the figure of a man whose personality fits in well in any field of human endeavour.

His personality is charismatic as it is accommodating. Little wonder his admirers and well-wishers have special regard for him and fondly call him “OTUEKONG”, while the younger folks call him “MASTER”.
Otuekong Nsikak Ekong is a crowd puller, not just because of his wealth or political inclination or his kindness to poor people, although, these may be contributing factors, but it is essentially the peculiar characteristics of Otuekong Ekong that have made him a popular and influential personality in Ikot Ekpene Federal Constituency in particular and Akwa Ibom State at large.

Indeed, many people see him as an up and coming statesman to be reckoned with in the next few years to come.
The respectable and accommodating Ekong is a visionary personality who knows what his people want, his ears are always receptive to the demands of his teeming supporters, while his doors are always open to anyone who needs his assistance.
Truly, Nsikak Ekong does not belong to the group of “use and dump” politicians who shake your hands before election and shake your heart after election.

A holder of a bachelor's Degree in Economics from the University of Cross River State now University of Uyo, Rt. Hon. Nsikak Ekong is an outstanding philanthropist, community leader, human capacity builder who has empowered many people and communities. To his credit as a lawmaker stands the Amayam Unity Hall, a digital centre built and equipped at Government School, Ikot Ekpene, Ultra Modern Abattoir and Open Shops, a one-stop Health Centre in Uruk Uso, Ikot Ekpene, a digital library with modern e-books and other equipments at Obot Akara Local Government Council. He has built houses for a number of widows at Ikot Ekpene, Obot Akara and Essien Udim LGAs respectively. He has equally lavished his supporters with over 100 cars and motorcycles to enhance their mobility among other life touching projects. What is more, he is still touching lives even after his tenure. No fewer than four widows have gotten shelter over their heads courtesy of Otuekong. Nsikak Ekong.

The above are some of the reasons  the people of Ikot Ekpene/Obot Akara State Constituency broke rules and damned consequences to send Otuekong Nsikak Ekong for the second time to the House of Assembly, a feat never recorded in the history of the State Constituency. Hence, Rt. Hon. Nsikak Ekong therefore becomes the jinx breaker and pace-setter having been the first to go for a second term. He is a recipient of many chieftaincy titles and awards.
As a lawmaker, one programme that endears Otuekong Ekong to students and parents was his students' support programme. Under this programme, the then lawmaker facilitated extra mural classes for students preparing for the West African Examination Council and the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations.
Registration forms were acquired for indigent students while many of those who performed well in the examination got some form of scholarship from the lawmaker. Needless to stress that millions of naira have been spent on this lofty programme and the result was appreciable.

Truly, Otuekong Nsikak Ekong is a credible personality who has distinguished himself as a great achiever, well calculating politician, a man of high political vision and sociable character, accessible to all social classes of people. Rt. Hon. Ekong has been doing everything possible within his power to solve the problems of his people, most especially indigent students, by providing scholarship to them. He sponsored over 100 students for computer literacy programme.
Otuekong Ekong is a God fearing Christian who gives for the sake of God. He is married to Helen and the marriage is blessed with four kids.
He had contributed to the peaceful ambience of the 5th Assembly and always made useful contributions on the floor of the house. He is well grounded in legislative business.
The true ability of any individual may never be fully realized except such a person is tested. Nsikak Ekong has been tested and trusted by his people as a dependable leader. He is a wanted man for the Green Chambers of the National Assembly to represent Ikot Ekpene/Essien Udim/Obot Akara Federal Constituency who appear to have lost their voice.

As the House of Representatives' seat moves to Ikot Ekpene, the people see Ekong as the most qualified hand for the job. We cannot settle for a better choice when the best is within reach as far as the issue of legislative competence is involved.

The appeal is RUN, RUN,
NSIKAK EKONG, RUN.
Come to the rescue.
