Leadership Crisis Rocks A'Ibom Mega Party

Except urgent and drastic measures are taken, the current leadership crisis rocking the Mega Party of Nigeria, may consume the party before the 2019 general elections.

A state officer of the party who confided with the press said the plot by the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), to foist back the sacked state chairman, Lawrence Udoh on the party, will cause a major crisis in the party.

According to him,the former chairman who is currently the special assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State on inter party affairs as a private business for six years. "For six years, no meeting of the party, no executive members, no executive activities. In fact Mega Party only existed inside the pocket of Lawrence Udoh. The last straw that broke the camel's back was when he hurriedly signed a document to congratulate the PDP, who disenfranchised all parties in the state, including his party during the December 2nd Local Government Council election and announced their landslide victory in all wards and local governments in the state.

"We are all aware that a huge sum of money has been given to him to go and lobby his way back as the state chairman of the party order to sell a structure of MPN to the PDP. If that happens then all of us will defect massively to any other party of our choice", he threatened.

It could be recalled that Lawrence Udoh was dropped as the state chairman of MPN on charges of anti-party activities, shortly after the local government election, in which the PDP had swept the 31 local government councils and 329 wards of the state, a development that was described as a reprehensive electoral fraud that questions the legitimacy of the present councils in the state.

When contacted on the issue, State Chairman of the party, Engr. Samuel Edung said that there is a rumour to that effect but declined further details.
