The people of Uruan LGA may have more than the AKwa Ibom State government to thank in the area of empowerments as a petroleum development company has also taken up responsibilities in this direction.
Performing a Corporate Social Responsibility, Moni Pulo, today, handed items like mini buses, motorcycles and cash gifts to indigenes of Uruan LGA at an event held at the football field in shelter Afrique, Uyo.
In her address, the Vice Chairman of Moni Pulo, Dr (Mrs) Seinye O. B thanked the State Government and the Hon. Commissioner for Transport and Petroleum Resourse, Rt(Hon) Orman Esin for their support in the business relationship between the petroleum development company and the good people of Uruan LGA.
"I must also express my extreme appreciation for the cooperation we received from Rt. Hon. Orman Esin, the paramount ruler of Uruan and other royal fathers"
Mrs Seinye who reiterated the companies commitment to human/ community development also listed a few projects which has been accomplished by the relationship between 2010 and today. Among them, she mentioned solar electrification and water projects.
Responding, Orman, while thanking Moni Pulo for their performances in the area of CSR assured the upstream operators that the state government is committed to success in oil and gas. He also applauded the youths of Uruan LGA for maintaining peaceful coexistence.
"We are happy for this development and we are grateful to Moni Pulo and His Excellency, Udom Emmanuel who has assisted us all the way. I thank also the youths of Uruan LGA for maintaining the position of peace in the area. I urge them to continue to do so. I assure Moni Pulo the this administration is committed to achieving the best in oil and gas hence our support is unwavering"
Speaking during the event, the Hon. Commissioner of police, represented by the ASP of the force, Aboh Gabriel, stated that the the command will continually ensure peace and calm in the area to aid the development.
"We will continue to maintain the peace in Uruan LGA so that business can succeed and the people can have peace"
Addressing the people, His Royal Highness, Edidem Cosmos Isaac Nkanga called for more peace among the people of Uruan LGA to aid Moni Polu and the state government succeed in the oil exploration which he stressed was a beneficial to the LGA.
Hon. commissioner for Environment, Dr. Iniobong Essien though invited was absent at the event.
