EMMANUEL ENOIDEM: BASKING IN THE EUPORIA OF SELF-DECEIT

By Udeme Ankott  “Above all, don't lie to yourself. The man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to a point that he cannot distinguish the truth within him, or around him, and so loses all respect for himself and for others. And having no respect, he ceases to love.” ― Fyodor Dostoevsky It's all over. Until the second leg anyway. A  brilliant game. Paris St. Germain started and finished magnificently, but missed a stack of chances. Barcelona were defensively suspect, but made their host pay for their profligacy with a fortuitous Messi goal and two clinical volleys by Coutinho, giving the Catalan giants a lead to take back home for the second leg. Tonight had it all: great goals, bizarre goals, early goals, late goals, headed goals, mesmerising skill, several lollipops, defensive fragility, a confusing red card and ultimately a hugely satisfactory result for Ernesto Valverde and co. Lionel Messi runs towards Neymar Jnr, the PSG talisman and says, “o my men

EKET, CRY NO MORE, UDOM'S DAYS ARE NUMBERED - EKERE By Augustine Akpan The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Obong Nsima Ekere, has charged Eket people to weep no more over Governor Udom Emmanuel's below par performance in the oil-rich city. 2019 VS UDOM’S DESPERATION AND TOMFOOLERY

By Ette Udo Sunny The Holy Bible advises that no one should embark on a project without first sitting to calculate the cost, to avoid failure and its attendant embarrassment. It is in keeping with this wise counsel that discerning individuals, organizations and governments conduct feasibility studies before they initiate a project of any kind. To this end, cost evaluation of a venture, its expected benefits and challenges, as well as its viability and practicability become imperative. It is pertinent to state here that our Lord Jesus Christ proffered this advice to us, his followers, warning us against spurious and unattainable project launchings or groundbreakings, ostensibly to spare us the embarrassing waste of resources and dashed hopes associated with it. However, it is most unfortunate and pathetic that our governor, His Excellency, the Revered Deacon Udom Emmanuel, out of desperation for a scorecard vis-a-vis 2019 polls, has repeatedly failed to avail us primarily, the

IKOT EKPENE RALLY: A TEST OF APC POPULARITY IN A’IBOM

By Asuama Ekpo For those who still doubt the acceptability and popularity of All Progressives Party (APC) in Akwa Ibom State, the  APC rally held in Ikot Ekpene Local Government  ended that doubt. An event which was meant to be a campaign rally for the upcoming elections at Ikot Ekpene stadium turned  into   concert and carnival as different socio-political groups, performing artists and celebrities took to the stage to register their support and solidarity for APC and its candidates in Akwa Ibom State.  The occasion which was a mere local government campaign rally became more like a presidential campaign rally as a mammoth crowd  of APC supporters gathered with joy, excitement and jubilation to demonstrate their support for the party they believe will best serve the interest of the common person in the society. The sea of heads of persons at the stadium was a notable  measure of the popularity and acceptability of  APC in Akwa Ibom State. It shows the direction Akwa Ib
