I will wipe away your tears, Ekere assures Ibeno people

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Akwa Ibom State, Obong Nsima Ekere has promised to wipe away the tears of citizens in Ibeno local government area.

He says their years of neglect is over as his administration as governor will double the 15 projects delivered to them in two years of his leadership as MD of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.

Ekere who stated this Thursday when the party's campaign team landed in Upenekang, the Headquarters of the LGA, decried the victimization and deprivation meted on the oil reach community by the PDP led administration of Udom Emmanuel, describing it as man's inhumanity to man.

Regretting governor Udom's inability to fulfill his promises of developing the popular Ibeno Beach, building a fish processing industry, a refinery and a petrochemical industry in Ibeno, Nsima Ekere expressed sadness over the abandonment of the Cottage Hospital built in Ibeno by governor Emmanuel’s predecessor, Senator Godswill Akpabio, which he said, has overgrown with weeds.

He condemned Udom Emmanuel's failure to complete the Eket-Ibeno Road even after ExxonMobil had released a huge amount of money to the government for the road and expressed shock at the allegation by some Esit Eket leaders that the governor was trying to relocate the power plant planned for Ibeno by ExxonMobil to his Awa village in Onna Local Government Area.

He listed all the 15 projects done by him through the NDDC to include the emergency repairs of Odorokuku Road in Upenekang, Grammar School Close and environs in Upenekang, Esenam Street and Lutheran Road and environs in Iwuoachang, Uko Ekpo Street, Bakery Avenue and environs in Iwuoachang, Catholic Road, Hospital Road, Big Town Primary School Road in Mkpanak and Ibeno Beach Road in Inua Eyet Ikot.

Others were the emergency repairs of Jacob Street and its environs in Iwo-Okpom; Henry Ekpe Street in Iwuoachang, Uko Iko Abasi Close in Upenekang; Shoreline Protection and Drainage of Okoroutip and Atabrikang village creeks; opening of the Atasi and Inyang Itor Canals in Upenekang, the Isia Canal in Iwuoachang and the Mkpanak Canal in Mkpanak to stop flooding and erosion.

He said, "We built a Cottage Hospital in Ibeno when I served under Obong Godswill Akpabio as Deputy Governor. My eyes are swollen in tears as I see the emptiness of Ibeno under this administration. He took your land saying he was going to build refinery. He did not do so. But you know what? I will wipe away your tears.

"Mobil wants to build a refinery in Ibeno. But Udom wants to take it to Awa. What did you do to him? I have done all these road projects and school renovations in Ibeno. If I could do all these in just two years as MD of NDDC, you can only imagine what I will accomplish in four years", he concluded.

The team which paid homage to the Paramount Ruler of Ibeno, Owong Effiong Achianga, who presented Obong Ekere with a Bible and giant fish, while also offering his royal blessing, had the big shots of the party in the team.
