As long as Governor Umo Eno is in office, the poor and vulnerable will have reasons to smile, with SMEs prioritized for grants and business support to achieve sustainability.
In an address last week, the Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, reiterated his unwavering commitment to improving the well-being of the state's citizens.
"I'm elected to serve the interest of the people, especially those at the down end of the ladder," the Governor stated. "I'm their advocate while also serving the other side of society. This is because I was once like them."
He further emphasized the inclusive nature of his administration's policies and programs, designed to ensure that all citizens feel the positive impact of governance. "We reassure them that Government is for them to make them feel better and comfortable through its policies and programmes," he added.
This statement reflects the Governor's dedication to creating a more equitable society and addressing the needs of all constituents, particularly the most vulnerable.
On his part, the Commissioner for Economic Development and Planning, Emem Bob, highlighted the AK-CARE 2 initiative, which aligns with the ARISE Agenda and fulfills campaign promises aimed at improving the lives of the poor and vulnerable, lifting them out of poverty.
"This people-oriented program is aimed at ameliorating the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the citizens," Bob said. "Today, funds will be disbursed to 12 benefiting communities for the execution of two micro projects of their choice. The objective of these disbursements is to enhance access to a better life, bolster food security and sufficiency, and provide essential grants to households and businesses across the State."
