Gender Base Violence: Pastor Patience Eno Advocates Increase Women Participation in Politics

As Nigerians and the global communities continue in the fight against gender base violence, the wife of the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, Pastor (Mrs) Patience Eno has advocated for increased women participation in politics to better position them to proffer solutions to gender base issues in the continent.




Pastor Eno made the advocacy at the African Women in Leadership Organization induction ceremony at Abuja last weekend.


The African Women in Leadership Organisation (AWLO) is a not-for-profit organisation with membership that is open to all african women & women of african decent. It brings together female executives, professionals and leaders to further advance the leadership status of women in continent of Africa, by creating an empowering platform and harnessing the synergies of alliance.



Pastor Eno who is a member and patron of the organization, said it was not proper for women to struggle and fight to have space in the political circle, and appealed that more women should be encouraged and supported to attain greater heights of authority.



Earlier in his remarks, the Convener of the organization, Dr. Elisha Attai advised men in politics to open up the political space so that women can take leadership positions for socio-economic development of Africa.



He said the aims of the body is to prepare more African women for leadership adding that it is their desire to see more women in politics, banking, oil and gas, more women senators not only in Nigeria, but in the entire African Continent.




The event which featured the induction of over 50 women, also presented special recognition award to distinguished women, with Pastor (Mrs) Patience Eno honoured as the phenomenal woman of worth 2021.
