AKSG REITERATES COMMITMENT TO QUALITY EDUCATION

  Josephine Etuk Akwa Ibom State Government has reiterated its resolve to achieving qualitative  education through responsive , accessible and integrated academic system. The Commissioner for Education, Mrs Idongesit Etiebet made this known in Uyo on Thursday, during the official presentation of quality assurance items to Quality Assurance Officers and Secretaries of Local Government Education Authorities put together by SUBEB. The Commissioner who stressed on the rationale behind the declaration of state-of-emergency on  Education  by Governor Udom Emmanuel said  it was geared towards resuscitating the system for excellence.  She added that ongoing reforms in the sector such as infrastructural revolution, reconstruction and rehabilitation of structures in schools, yearly payment of WAEC fees for exiting students, advance payment of counterpart fundings, prompt payment of salaries of Teachers,etc are geared towards educational advancement. ITU COUNCIL CHAIRMAN FLAGS-OFF ROAD GRADING EXERCISE

  By Patrick Antia The Executive Chairman of Itu Local Government Council; Hon. Barr. Etetim Onuk on Tuesday flagged off another phase of road grading excercise in Itu Local Government Area with the grading of AEC works road, Ekit Itam 2. Addressing newsmen shortly after the flag-off, the Council Boss stated that the road grading excercise would improve transportation between communities and also ease rural-urban trade. He posited that having motorable access roads in rural areas remain a major avenue to boost socio-economic development. The Itu Council helmsman observed that apart from easy access to Ibom Specialist Hospital, the graded road will also increase access to market centers, thereby encouraging commercial farming activities and ensure agricultural products are available at affordable price.
