AKSG REITERATES COMMITMENT TO QUALITY EDUCATION

Akwa Ibom State Government has reiterated its resolve to achieving qualitative  education through responsive , accessible and integrated academic system.


The Commissioner for Education, Mrs Idongesit Etiebet made this known in Uyo on Thursday, during the official presentation of quality assurance items to Quality Assurance Officers and Secretaries of Local Government Education Authorities put together by SUBEB.



The Commissioner who stressed on the rationale behind the declaration of state-of-emergency on  Education  by Governor Udom Emmanuel said  it was geared towards resuscitating the system for excellence. 


She added that ongoing reforms in the sector such as infrastructural revolution, reconstruction and rehabilitation of structures in schools, yearly payment of WAEC fees for exiting students, advance payment of counterpart fundings, prompt payment of salaries of Teachers,etc are geared towards educational advancement.


Mrs Etiebet therefore charged Quality Assurance Officers to key into the vision by effectively utilizing the facilities given to them to monitor, evaluate and inspect academic activities in their domains to ensure the goal of sound education with  85%  success in WAEC with at least 5 credits per student  including English and Mathematics  is realized 


Earlier, the Chairman of  State Universal Basic Education Board, Obong Paul Ekpo  spoke on the importance of education which he said requires the  collective efforts of all to get it right.


The SUBEB boss pledged the readiness of his board to create enabling environment for quality education in Akwa Ibom State.


Highpoint of the event was presentation of motorcycles, digital tablets , laptops/printers and office equipments to Quality Assurance Officers and Secretaries of Local Education Authority in the State.


The occasion was witnessed by the State House of Assembly Committee Chairman on Education, Rt Hon. Godwin Ekpo, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Lady Rose Bassey, Permanent Secretary SUBEB, Elder Ezekiel Umoh, amongst other top Education stakeholders.
