The Bishop of Ikot Ekpene Diocese, Catholic Church, His Lordship, Bishop Camilus Umoh has eulogized Nsikak Umoren Foundation, (NUF), for the show of love and goodwill toward the Internally Displaced Persons, IDP, of Ukana West 1,  Essien Udim Local Government Area. He noted that "it is rare for highly placed individuals, groups to identify with the needy in a challenging time like this", and prayed God's blessings for the Executive Director Nsikak Umoren Foundation and his team.



The Clergy made this known today at St. Anne Cathedral, Ifuhu, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, when NUF team paid a courtesy call on him after they visited and presented food stuffs, toiletries among other items to IDP. 


Speaking earlier while receiving the items, the Essien Udim Local Government Council Chairman, Hon. Anthony Luke, thanked NUF for identifying with the people in their own capacity. He noted that the gesture was worthy of emulation by the people in the society. 



According to him, "this is not about the quantities of foodstuffs the group brought, but the heart of giving in a trying moment is highly appreciated by the people. I received this provisions and will be channeled to appropriate quarters."


The Council Boss who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Bar. Abasiama Umohatah, applauded the group for coming to share in their difficult time.



The Coordinator of NUF, Comrade Amama Aloysius in his remark, said that NUP objective is to reach out to the people irrespective of religion, race, tribe and class. 


Enumerating the mandate of the foundation, he said: "To work for the social development of underprivileged individuals, groups and communities in Obot Akara and beyond, to encourage healthcare development and health promotion; to assist in the process of social integration and personal realization of underprivileged children, young people, adults and families. To raise informed citizenry.


"NUF will help the most vulnerable members of our society and include work on different levels such as: analysis and assessment of needs, developing programmes and strategies for development, empowering and developing local communities, interaction with stakeholders, fashion out care policies, programs, development and more".



He, however, called on Nigerians to embrace peace for infrastructure development and economic prosperity of all. "Let's give Peace a chance in where we live, where we go. Let Peace be our watch word".


The Leader of Essien Udim Legislative Council, Hon. Mary Reuben Charles in her goodwill message on behalf of women, thanked  NUF for the kindness extended to them. She assured the group of good conduct while sharing the foodstuffs.



The Political Leader of Ukana West l, Obong John  Ekanem who was represented by his wife, Obonganwan Winfrey John Ekanem, prayed Almighty God's benevolence and capacity for the foundation to do more service to humanity.
