Shocker: Ebonyi APC candidate joins PDP

Less than 24 hours to the supplementary elections slated to hold on Saturday in three state constituencies in Ebonyi State, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Ezza North West State constituency, Mr Nome Innocent, has dumped his party and joined the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Consequently, he announced his withdrawal from the race and declared support for the candidate of the PDP, Mr Friday Nwuhuo, a lawyer. He also said that he was moving to the PDP with his teeming supporters. At a press conference held in Abakaliki, the state capital, Nome who was flanked by the PDP’s candidate and other chieftains of the party, said that he took the decision on his free volition. Similar news  Kaduna domesticates plan to end malnutrition Nome, a lawyer, also said that he took the decision because his party, the APC, did not show sufficient seriousness that it was ready for the election to the point that its governorship candidate lost his polling unit to the P

The Attorney General of the Federation Federal Ministry of Justice FCT, Abuja. Sir, Attempt to Perpetuate Electoral Fraud in Akwa Ibom State We want to place on record and bring to your attention the very obvious and noticeable attempt by the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Mike Igini, in collusion with agents of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Akwa Ibom State Government to perpetuate electoral fraud by destroying electoral materials needed to substantiate the election petitions of candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State. POLITICAL JOBBERS ON THE PROWL

...Being the text of the press conference by Leaders and Stakeholders of All Progressives Congress (APC) Essien Udim Local Government Area on the aftermath of the general elections and attempts by hired political merchants to demonize Senator Godswill Akpabio. Gentlemen of the Press, We are constrained by recent developments in the polity especially the rash of press briefings by hired political mercenaries and carrion feeders, all in attempts to diminish the person of His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio, CON, one of whom was a National Youth Corps Member in his office, but today takes delight in disparaging him through wild, fictitious and unsubstantiated allegations.  They can gloat over the pyrrhic victory of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 9th March 2019 election -  an election that will go down in history as the biggest, most elaborate fraud executed by the Akwa Ibom State Government headed by Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel in coll

According to the press release signed by APC Caucus Chairman, Essien Udim LGA chapter, Arc. Ubok Utom Nya said "  we advise these carrion feeders never to gloat over this stolen mandate. Their so-called gubernatorial victory can only be pyrrhic. A'Ibom APC rejects Gubernatorial result

We appreciate all your efforts and sincerely urge you to remain steadfast in your support and cherished commitment to progressive ideals of politics in the country. You are all witnesses to the political developments that culminated in the 2019 general elections that took place in Akwa Ibom State. You are equally aware and had been informed of the consistent complaints  by the All Progressives Congress in Akwa Ibom State of the intrigues and the outrageous alliances between the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, the People’s Democratic Party and the government of Akwa Ibom State in the build up to the general elections. Bomb blast, gunshots injure three APC members in Uyo

...PDP responsible for the attack - APC Campaign Council, Youth Leader allege An explosion and gunshots which rocked the campaign grounds of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Tuesday night, have left at least three persons injured. The incident which occurred at about 7:30 pm was reportedly perpetrated by gunmen who arrived in a car, threw dynamite into the premises before opening fire on hapless members and supporters of the APC. It was gathered that a training programme for APC agents for Saturday's Governorship and House of Assembly elections was one of the activities which took place at the campaign grounds when the attackers struck. Copious blood stains dotted the premises after the incident which left many in awe. Eyewitnesses said the attackers arrived in a commando style and sped off before security operatives at the premises could return fire. When newsmen visited the victims in hospital, two of them were in critical cond

BOMBING OF APC CAMPAIGN OFFICE: PDP DESPERATION TAKEN TOO FAR

Eyibio We want to alert the nation and particularly, security agencies of the bombing and  shootings that took place at the APC Campaign Office along Edet Akpan Avenue, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. The bombing and shooting, which took place at about 7:30 pm on Tuesday March 5, 2019, is another desperate attempt by the People’s Democratic Party, its thugs and militant groups that have swamped the state since the commencement of elections in February this year, to cause large scale violence, capable of preventing the March 9, 2019 from holding. An eye witness account has it that the attackers came to the gate of the campaign office and threw a dynamite, which exploded, into the premises. The loud bang sent party agents, who had gathered for training, scampering for safety. In the ensuing melee, several gunshots were fired into the premises, which left three people badly wounded. Victims of the attack have been taken to a hospital in Uyo for treatment. To prepare

Udom watches as 540MW power plant in Akwa Ibom will be used to power Kano

In spite of the chronic power shortages in Akwa Ibom state, the $1.6bn QIPP power plant being built in Ibeno, Akwa Ibom is going be to supplying power exclusively to Kano. The Kano State Governor, Ganduje has signed an agreement with the managing director of the transmission company of Nigeria that ensures that all of the power put on-grid by the power plant will be delivered equivalently to Kano. Governor Udom Emmanuel has not commented on why Akwa Ibom state will not be receiving any of the power generated, in spite of announcing the initiative at the South South regional workshop and stakeholders forum on the ease of doing business in Nigeria held, in Uyo. Akwa Ibom citizens are perturbed at the development, at a recent forum of engineers held in Abak, the discussion was heated, with many engineers insisting that the state government ensure that at least 100mw of the power generated be reserved for use by Akwa Ibomites. The state government has not made any moves to ful

Udom Emmanuel: Mr. Abandoned Projects

When Udom Emmanuel took over power from Godswill Akpabio, many projects were in advanced stages of completion. All he had to do was complete them. But instead of doing that, he decided to do…nothing. He did not complete existing projects, and he also did not start new projects. Instead of completing critical infrastructure projects, he decided that he would spend billions of Naira to create so-called industries. But every businessman knows that it is easy to invest money in a new business, but it is difficult to make those businesses work. And most of all, it is very difficult for Government to make any business work. And exactly that has happened - all the ‘industries’ that Udom Emmanuel tried to invest in have failed, with various stakeholders in the Government using the initiatives as an easy way to enrich themselves. Most of them are shutdown and moribund, even after hundreds of millions have been invested in them. After wasting three years on failed business projects, Ud

Nsima Ekere means well to A'Ibom, Tim

If Akwa Ibom State Government under Governor Udom Emmanuel can afford 3 airlines, why has he (Udom) refused to pay primary school retirees their pension and other entitlements? If Akwa Ibom State Government under Governor Udom Emmanuel can afford three airlines, why has he (Udom) refused to pay primary school retirees their pension and other entitlements? How will the common man benefit from the 3 airlines, when Governor Udom would have channelled the funds into the Ibom Power plant in order to generate and distribute electricity for the benefit of all Akwa Ibom people; both little, young and old? Till we have a Governor that has the interest of the common man at heart, then we do not have the best. Let your PVC speak for you on the 9th of March, 2019. Vote for a man who believes that Akwa Ibom Deserves the Best. Vote Obong Nsima Ekere My name is Tim Obot and I endorse this message

A'Ibom records high Unemployment rate

Akwa Ibom state has the second highest unemployment rate in the country under Udom Emmanuel The National bureau of statistics has released employment statistics, which show the oil rich Akwa Ibom State having the second highest unemployment rates at 36.58%. In spite of the massive oil revenues accruing to the state, and the industries that the Governor has claimed to be building, the unemployment numbers in the state have been climbing over the last four years. Emmanuel Ekong, a young man that our reporter met on Ikot Ekpene road complained loudly: “The Governor is building industries that nobody can see. They say we have toothpick factory, that we have tomato factory, but nobody is working in those factories and nobody is buying from those factories. In short, I do not believe any of this - I have never even see a photo of these factories”. The numbers on unemployment are further corroborated by numbers on mobile phone connectivity as released by the NCC - Akwa Ibom is one

How the NDDC stepped in to fill the gap left by Udom Emmanuel

For the last three years, Udom Emmanuel does not seem to have been very active in terms of infrastructure. And because of that, the prospect of losing re-election are now looming. Luckily for Akwa Ibomites, the NDDC stepped in to fill the gaps. After Nsima Ekere was appointed MD of the NDDC, an unprecedented investment in infrastructure started. The NDDC under Nsima started investing in internal roads across Akwa Ibom. Continuing the major highways that Akpabio had built in his tenure, the smaller roads that joined them started rapidly being built by NDDC and Nsima Ekere. When Udom saw that, he started also trying to do his - but like they say: too little and too late. While Akpabio built 1,300 kilometres of roads, Udom has barely built anything! Would it not benefit us more to have builders in power? People who have a track record of delivering infrastructure projects? I personally think so - we need to move away from the talkers to doers!

EFCC charges Gov Udom Emmanuel, Paul Usoro with N1.4bn fraud

EFCC charges Gov Udom Emmanuel, Paul Usoro with N1.4bn fraud Shortly after taking office in 2015, the sum of N1.4bn was transferred out of the Akwa Ibom state government coffers into the accounts of a lawyer, Paul Usoro. The transfer of this money was not sanctioned by the state Government, and the purpose for which this money was transferred is yet unclear. According to the EFCC, Governor Udom Emmanuel, Paul Usoro and others “conspired among themselves to commit an offence - the conversion of the sum of N1, 400, 000, 000 (one billion four hundred and ten million naira) property of Government of Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria”.  The EFCC admits that Udom Emmanuel is “currently constitutionally immune to criminal prosecution”, however, the accomplices have been arraigned, and arrest warrants issued. It appears that the EFCC is waiting for the tenure of Udom Emmanuel to expire, after which he will also be similarly arraigned.  The EFCC further stated Paul Usoro (SAN) who volunteered

Why has Governor Udom Emmanuel decided to punish the people of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area March 03, 2019 I need you to pause and think for a while Why has Governor Udom Emmanuel decided to punish the people of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area this much? If you are from Ikot Ekpene, do you feel comfortable when you do not see bikes to take you home from 5:30pm every day? For how long will this punishment last? Why has the banning of bikes in Ikot Ekpene persisted for over a year when the one of Eket (Gov. Gov Udom Emmanuel defrauds Akwa Saving

It has been over 2 years since Akwa Savings and Loans closed down under the watch of Gov. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel. Over 200 parents/staff became jobless in a state Governed by a former bank director who claims he had over 25 years banking experience. They told us they inherited a debt of N1.5b naira but got an approval from the AKSHA on the 3rd of March, 2016 to secure a loan of N1.5b to pay the debt (See document attached). However, instead of repaying the debt (if any existed), Governor Udom, in collusion with his finance commissioner, fraudulently diverted the money from the Akwa Savings & Loans Ltd account no. 1006986768 to an account of which the finance commissioner was the sole signatory and operator. This action by Udom Emmanuel crippled the operations of the bank, sending 200 parents packing under the disguise of not being able to fund the bank till today. Kindly reflect on these questions If debt was truly the problem, what happened to the N1.5b Udo

My issues with the PDP Government of Akwa Ibom

March 9 we are going to vote again. In the last election the state government or the PDP was able to dole out the sum of five hundred thousand naira (N500, 000.00) as voter’s appreciation in all the units in the State and five hundred thousand naira for security, (500,000). During the election eve before the presidential elections were postponed on February 16th, the sum of two hundred thousand naira (N200, 000.00) went round all the units in AKwa Ibom State for the same purpose. Here I am not talking about hearsay, but what I saw and participated helplessly. Now the future of millions of unborn children in Akwa Ibom depends on the decisions we make today.  A thousand kids of the seeming elite class might have gone outside the country for education or for their various vocations but the truth is that there is no place like home.  Before I deviate, let me bare my mind as regards the type of politics we play in Akwa Ibom State. We act as if the people we are leadi

Governor Udom Emmanuel makes history

Never in the history of Akwa Ibom State has a sitting Governor been accused of corruption by the EFCC. Never in the history of Akwa Ibom State has a sitting Governor taken pleasure in deducting three thousand naira from Primary and Secondary school teachers for no reason. Never in the history of Akwa Ibom State has a sitting Governor been accused by Obong Victor Attah of establishing mystery and non-functional industries Never in the History of Akwa Ibom Ibom State has Etim Ekpo and Ukanafun witness gruesome killings under a sitting Governor who claims to be a deacon and the Chief Security Officer of a State Our records in WAEC has dropped drastically in the last 3 years. We have moved from the 15th position to 17th position all because of Gov Udom’s ineptitude and insensitivity as a leader. How could he be demotivating teachers by deducting their hard earned salaries for nothing? Why should he be deceiving Akwa Ibom people that he values

Udom Emmanuel's Commissioners throw weights on Nsima Ekere

Commissioners, others, reaching out to APC in Akwa Ibom state Credible sources have informed us that commissioners and others in the current PDP Government are reaching out to APC party members, hoping to remain politically relevant now that it’s clear that APC will remain the ruling party at the national level. With national attention now on Akwa Ibom for the governorship election, most PDP members are deeply worried about the ability of the PDP state Government to win re-election. They also understand that with APC at the state level as well as national level, a loss would mean the end of their political career, which for many of them is what puts food on the table daily.

Nsima Ekere to orphans pay 5,000 allowance

Under Nsima Ekere, every orphan will receive N5,000 monthly As the APC campaigns to win the governorship race in Akwa Ibom State, we have taken a closer look at the manifestos of both candidates. One particularly touching, and necessary part of the ONE campaign is that every orphan is going to be financially supported by the state government. The sum of N5,000 will be provided monthly to every orphan, which will give them extra money to spend, notwithstanding the fact that they will still be taken care of in orphanage homes if they have no guardian. If they have guardians, the monies will still be provided to them, which will also help the guardians take care of their daily needs. The focus of the campaign on the most vulnerable of society is striking, and it really goes to highlight what the government will do when in power. For this reason, I believe Nsima Ekere should be the next Governor of Akwa Ibom State

Do you really want Udom Emmanuel to continue as Governor?

Let us be real about this - what has Udom done that has impacted you? He has moved at a very slow pace when building roads. He has neglected the state, always coming up with one excuse or the other. His tenure has seen Akwa Ibom slow down and become dull - people are leaving to other places to earn money. Udom has changed a state that was on trajectory to become the new Lagos and brought it back to the rural level. And meanwhile, he uses the Government jet to fly to Lagos almost every weekend. Udom is a failure - there is no doubt about it. A failure whose sycophants are lying to so that they can steal money from the state. The state has suffered under his rule, and it is time we get a new Governor. If you love your state, please vote Udom Emmanuel out and bring in new blood.

Breaking: President Buhari to visit Akwa Ibom on Monday!

Akwa Ibom has established itself as the Vanguard of the APC in the South-South, with President Buhari bringing in a number of Akwa Ibomites into the governance circle - including Ita Enang, Nsima Ekere, Godswill Akpabio, Udo Udoma and many more. To further strengthen the friendship and to support Nsima Ekere as he campaigns for Governor of Akwa Ibom State, President Buhari will be landing in Uyo tommorow, Monday the 4th of March, 2019. The strong ties between the Federal Government and the state APC mean that if Nsima Ekere wins the election, it is likely that there will be far stronger cooperation between the state and the federal level - leading to accelerated infrastructure development and a lot more support for farmers and entrepreneurs. The prospects of the Ibom deep sea port become very likely then, as such large scale projects generally need full cooperation between the federal government and the state government, and the animosity displayed by the PDP towards the fede

2019 election: The political miscalculation of Udom Emmanuel

Akwa Ibom PDP delivered the state at the national election. Atiku claimed to have won in Akwa Ibom, but the victory has turned out to be hollow. Because now the state government has another battle to fight - the battle for its very own survival. And this battle is turning out to be far, far tougher than the Udom Emmanuel led Government expected. The tag-team of Nsima Ekere and Godswill Akpabio were able to deliver Akwa Ibom to Buhari, achieving 175,000 votes in spite of widespread rigging by the State Government. Most observers believe that the APC won in the state - but collusion between the INEC REC and the State Government resulted in a different result being announced after the election. In spite of that, the APC was able to pull down the 953,000 votes PDP got in Akwa Ibom back in 2015 to just 395,000 votes - a fatal blow to the presidential ambitions of Atiku. The state government however severely miscalculated - they believed that Akwa Ibom could deliver more than a mi
