The Former Transition Chairman of Obot Akara Local Government Area and the President of Amama Prisoners' Care Foundation, Comd. Emmanuel Amama has provided items worth millions of naira to inmates at Nigerian Prison Service, NPS Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area.


Speaking at the presentation of the items, Comd. Emmanuel Amama said that the foundation is poise to inculcate morals on the law breakers which will transform them to be better citizens and make a criminals free country.

In his words, "this gesture which will help transform and mobilize them to lead meaningful lives in the society; transforming them from a cycle of crime to a cycle of renewal; to motivate and inspire people to take positive actions on prisoner's human and civil right through our legal services and to fast-track the delivery of judgement for the inmates awaiting trial and also solicit freely for the vulnerable who do not have the means of financing their trial.


"I recalled my first visit to this Prisons in 2004 immediately after my National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), when I started in 2004, I had nothing and I came here as a person to thank God. But today, I stand here with the Management Team of the Non Governmental Organization, NGO because of the value we place on this ministry The Foundation is set to do its work at the National level. We arei here because out there  God has shown us mercy”, he stressed.

He Admonished the Inmates that all hope is not lost, he urged all of the inmates, when you are here, be prepared to do the works of God because God is preparing you for a glorious destiny. As an NGO, our duty is to take up the responsibility of caring for our brothers,hence not regarding you as Prisoners and not describing this place as a Prison but “a Correctional Center”.


Comrade Emmanuel Amama counted the numerous blessings that always accompany his visit to the Inmates. "During my Visit in 2017, I told you  that many will be set free and that came to pass during the visit of the Chief Justice of Akwa Ibom State to Ikot Ekpene Prisons. The Chief Judge reviewed the cases and so many were set free”, he added.

He commended the Chief Judge of Akwa Ibom State for the enormous work he has done in the Judiciary arms of government.

Anama assures the inmates of the Foundation’s plans and willingness to establish a skill acquisition center inside the Nigerians Prison Service Ikot Ekpene, in the nearest future and requested that the Deputy Controller  in charge of Ikot Ekpene Prisons to send  a compiled list of Inmates from Obot Akara L.G.A to the Foundation’s Legal Team to help fast-track delivery of judgement to Inmates who do not have the means of financing their trial.

Not less than 25 inmates has regained their freedom as a result of the Foundation's Legal Team who solicited for inmates, from 2015 till date. He thanked the man incharge of the Ikot Ekpene Prisons DCP K. A. Njoku for his love, respect and warmth reception accorded the Foundation.

The Officer in charge of the NPS, Ikot Ekpene, DCP K. A. Njoku thanked Comd. Emmanuel Amama for such gesture and caring for the inmates.

He assured the foundation of his readiness to give the inmates those provision and  also to forward names of inmates from Obot Akara Local Government Area.

According to Njoku "the greatest inspiration anybody can give is being an inspiration to others and also the greatest gift is giving to someone who can never give you back and indeed, Amama Prisoners' Care Foundation has demonstrated the inspiration and has displayed a pure heart of giving of all times. DCP Njoku promised to send in  the list of Inmates from Obot Akara LGA as was requested by the Foundation and he thanked the Founder /President and all the Management Team and pray God to bless and reward their kind gesture", Njoku noted.

The members of the management committee of Amama Prisoners' Care Foundation present at the visit are, the BoT President; Comrade Emmanuel Linus Amama, Director of  Programmes; Mrs. Ifeyinwa E. Amama. The Spiritual Director of the Foundation; Rev. Nsikak Inyang, The Royal Father; Chief Isidore Jacob, Grand Patron of the Foundation; and a host of other numerous members of the Foundation.
The BoT President; appreciated the contributions and support of Patron/Matron Linus A. Uwak, Her Excellency; Ekaette Unoma Akpabio, and Sir/Lady Don Amama.
