OBOT AKARA WOMEN ENDORSE FIRST FEMALE CHAIRMANSHIP ASPIRANT

Women of Obot Akara Local Government Area have thrown their weight behind the first female Chairmanship Aspirant from the Local Government, Mrs. Agnes Cosmas Udoenwewen.

In an endorsement meeting held on Friday at the Council Secretariat, Nto Edino, female stakeholders took turns to intimate women of the Local Government on why the aspirant should be fully supported by them. 

The chairmanship hopeful thanked the women for their support, adding that her government will be inclusive, as everyone will benefit immensely.

She assured the women of her continuous support to the development of Obot Akara.

Mrs. Udoenwewen noted that grassroot development and talent havesting will be the focus of her administration.

She appreciated the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel for his "continuous benevolence to the women of Obot Akara Local Government Area".

She expressed gratitude to the Governor's Wife, Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel for always advancing the course of women in the last five years.

She further thanked the Senator Representing Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, Senator Chris Ekpenyong, Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Sir Monday Ebong Uko, Member Representing Ikot Ekpene/Obot Akara State Constituency, Prince Idongesit Ntekpere and Executive Chairman of Obot Akara LGA, Etubom Anietie Akpaettor for their support towards her ambition.

Wife of the Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Lady Blessing Ebong Uko, encouraged the women not to loose hope as there is always a reward for faithful service. 

She reminded them of David in the Bible, who was sent for after being forgotten, while in the bush tending his father's sheep.

Lady Blessing said Women in the Local Government Area have been remembered through their Chairmanship Aspirant.

She also admonished mothers to send their children to school irrespective of gender, as only the educated ones are privileged to lead in today's society.

"We are in a competitive era where only the educated ones get to lead." Lady Blessing said.

She expressed gratitude to Governor Udom Emmanuel and his wife, Dr. Martha, for giving the women of Akwa Ibom State the opportunity to serve in top positions in government."

Wife of the Executive Chairman of Obot Akara Local Government Area, Mrs Tessy Akpaettor, thanked the State Chief Executive and his wife, Mrs Martha, for "standing by Obot Akara and my husband in the last three years."

She noted that the Governor and his wife have been instrumental to the success of her husband's tenure.

She also appreciated Leadership of the Local Government for standing by the women and urged the them to show similar support to her husband's successor, "to ensure that development continues in the Local Government Area."

Another female stakeholder in the Local Government and Chairman of SUBEB, Professor Maria Ikorok prayed the women to be peaceful and loving, in order to achieve their common goal as women in the Local Government.

She advised the women of the Local Government to support Mrs. Udoenwewen for the position of Executive Chairman, as she has the interest of the Local Government at heart.

Also being endorsed at the event include four Female councillorship aspirants, who had indicated interest in serving their various wards.
