STOP INCITING CRISIS IN A PEACEFUL STATE: A WARNING FOR PDP MISCHIEF-MAKERS TO DESIST FROM DELIBERATE DISTORTIONS
The attention of well-meaning Akwa Ibom people has been drawn to an ill-tempered and theatrically inflammatory publication issued by one Comr. Ewa Okpo, parading himself as a State Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, maligning the person and office of the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD.
Ordinarily, such a disjointed propaganda piece, replete with verbal acrobatics, biblical misapplications, and political desperation would not merit a response. However, in the interest of preserving the peace and stability which this administration has painstakingly nurtured, it becomes imperative to address the malicious mischief embedded in the said release.
Let it be clearly and unequivocally stated that Akwa Ibom State remains one of the most peaceful and politically stable sub-national entities in Nigeria today, courtesy of the Governor’s deliberate pacifist governance philosophy, inclusive leadership posture, and unwavering commitment to unity.
The attempt by a fringe of frustrated political actors to smuggle tension into a peaceful environment is condemnable and must be resisted by all well-meaning citizens.
Furthermore, the infantile attempt to question the Governor’s right to hire, restructure, or disengage any appointee is nothing short of an embarrassing display of constitutional illiteracy.
For emphasis, it is within the full constitutional and administrative prerogative of a sitting Governor to appoint, retain, or relieve any political office holder of their position, especially when such individuals act in ways incompatible with the policy direction and institutional discipline of the government they serve.
This is neither novel nor controversial. It is the universally acknowledged principle of executive governance. Political appointments are not hereditary entitlements; they are privileges contingent on loyalty, alignment, and adherence to the objectives of the administration.
The attempt, therefore, by Okpo and his co-travellers to sensationalize a routine administrative decision and dress it up as “persecution” is not only deceptive but maliciously crafted to incite public disaffection. Akwa Ibom people are too enlightened to fall for such crude manipulations.
Equally worrisome is the reckless resort to incendiary language, name-calling, and scriptural misinterpretations aimed at provoking unrest in a state that has enjoyed uninterrupted tranquility. Such irresponsible commentary betrays a dangerous mindset and must be discontinued forthwith.
We, therefore, urge members of the public to disregard this desperate propaganda and remain vigilant against agents of destabilization who are attempting to weaponize misinformation for political survival.
His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, remains committed to building a harmonious, development-driven, and united Akwa Ibom State where governance is anchored on fairness, accountability, and the common good.
The State will not tolerate any attempt to derail this enviable trajectory through malicious blackmail or politically induced hysteria.
Political actors must conduct themselves with decorum, civility, and respect for constituted authority. Any one in government who works against the policy direction of the government should quietly quit office or face the consequences of their actions.
Akwa Ibom is too mature, too peaceful, and too forward-looking to be dragged backwards by individuals who thrive on chaos.
Enough of the incitement. Enough of the falsehood. Enough of the desperation.
Akwa Ibom must remain peaceful. Akwa Ibom shall remain united.
Signed
Udeme Umoh Sylvester Udofia
Int'l Coordinator Secretary General
