SPOT LIGHT ON HON. (PASTOR) SUNDAY EKANEM IBUOT AND IKOT EKPENE FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY ROTATION

An American Author and Motivational Speaker, John Maxwell said “Leaders become great, not because of their power, but because of their ability to empower others”. This leadership principle is one that compliments the proficiency and professional achievements of Pastor Sunday Ekanem Ibuot aka Sunny Ibuot. An indigene of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. Though, his success story is known to many, the true significances of this story, has in its ability to inspire and energize the present and future generations.
Born on April 8, 1961, Sunny Ibuot is a renowned Chartered Accountant with Vast range of experiences. To sharpen his skills in his chosen profession, young Ibuot had on completion of his Primary and Secondary Education, gained admission into the University of Uyo and in 1996, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. Not done with education, he returned to the same University for his second degree in Finance and upon completion in 2004, obtained his Master of Bachelor of Arts (MBA) Certificate in Finance.
A thorough bred Professional, Hon. Ibuot is a fellow chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, Fellow chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, Member of Nigeria Institute of Management and member of Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, etc.
Pastor Ibuot started his working experience at Federal Audit Department Calabar, where he served as an Audit Clerk from 1980-1981. He was later engaged by the Union Bank of Nigeria Plc in 1988. He served the Bank in various capacities and branches until 1991 when he resigned to pursue further studies, after he attained the position of Branch Accountant in charge of General Branch Banking Operations and staff matters at Ikot Ekpene Branch of the bank. He was subsequently appointed as Chairman, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Council Transition handing over Committee, a position that exposed him to the political spheres of Akwa Ibom State. Between 2001-2004 served as Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission. Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
His sterling performance, dedication and commitment to accomplish public tasks assigned to him must have endeared him to the people of Ikot Ekpene who unanimously elected him as the Executive Chairman of the Local Government Area in 2008. Major projects and millstones doing his three year sojourn as a Local Government Chairman included, but not limited to:
Built an Ultra Modern Secretariat Complex and re-located the Local Government Offices to the new secretariat.
Also built an Ultra Modern legislative Chambers for the Local Government.
Paid bursaries to all students of Ikot Ekpene extraction in tertiary institutions across Nigeria during his tenure.
Provided brand new Toyota Corolla Cars to all Councilors, and some executive members to ease their day to day functions.
Executed life touching projects to all the eleven political wards of the Local Government for the benefits of the people.
Institutionalized the culture of road cleaning through sweeping within the Local Government and the State Government adopted it.
Provided water facilities in most Primary Health Centers in the Local Government Area, and periodic replenish of drugs.
Facilitated employment opportunities for the unemployment indigenes of the Local Government Area and environs
Helped to motivate with 100 bags of cements to every elected or appointed officials with a demonstrable efforts to build a house.
Provide a grant of N500, 000.00 each to any newly married elected or appointed officials to cushion a smoth take off of a family life, some of the legacies he left behind while he saddled as the Chairman of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, this Speaks, Volume of his persons.
This illustrious son of Ikot Ekpene has equally served as Chairman/member of different committees as well as executed major political tasks assigned to him by the ruling People Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State. Base on his antecedents, Pastor Ibuot will excel in the House of Representative to represent the good People of Ikot Ekpene Federal Constituency. It will be equity, fairness and Justice for Amanyam Clan to Sponsor the next member, House of Representative and in the Person of Hon. (Pastor) Sunday Ibuot
Ikot Ekpene Federal Constituency, since inception of democracy, has been on rotation basis that is, from Obot Akara, Ikot Ekpene and Essien Udim Local Government Areas and on clan basis also.

From the above illustration, time is ripe for Amanyam Clan to take her rightful place in the House of Representative.
As an ordained Pastor of the Living Faith Church, Worldwide, his Christian and social life style is such that have impacted positively on all classes of people who may have come across him whether in Church or other social gatherings in the State.
Pastor Ibuot had between 2011-2013 served as Chairman of the Local Church Council in Ikot Ekpene.
He has no doubt gained enormous administrative and managerial experiences principally as a financial expert whose practical experience remains valuable, and can perform creditably at the Green Chamber. Governor Udom Emmanuel had in recognition of Pastor Ibuot’s administrative prowess and political sagacity offered him an appoitmnet to serve as Secretary Technical Committee on Agriculture and Food Sufficiency. The Technical Committee’s achievements in the Past two years is laudable, especially in the production of Garri and other stable foods. This has added credence to the capacity of the committee members to interprete the vision of His Excellency, Mr. Udom Emmanuel in ensuring food security to the people of Akwa Ibom State.
In terms of capacity, human building and human development, Hon. (Pastor) Sunny Ibuot has been to major Cities in Nigeria and beyond for various professional courses research and development programs, Seminars, conference, symposium and trainings within and outside his field of endeavor. He is a proud recipient of numerous distinguished services awards and tributes. This promising gentleman is married and the marriage is blessed with four children. To say that God is not yet through with Hon. (Pastor) Sunday Ekanem Ibuot is to State the obvious as I join others in wishing him well in his future political endeavors.
In conclusion, please note:
From the fore going, no Local Government has ever repeated the seat
Both Obot Akara and Essien Udim Local Government Areas have taken their two terms each.
Ikot Ekpene will take their second term in 2019-2023 preferably Amanyam Clan to take the three Local Government Areas to an equal pedestal (that is two times each since 1999).
No Clan has ever repeated in the above analysis. The Local Government rotation is also clannishly implied and religiously observed in the table above.
The fact that the next member, House of Representative seat is coming to Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area is very clear.
The fact that Amanyam Clan is the next to take its turn is also not debatable.
Our honest appeal therefore, is that every man and woman of good conscience should support…”whatsoever that are true, honest, just, pure and of good report” and Hon. (Pastor) Sunny Ibuot is a replica of these words and should think of these thing as recorded in Philippians 4: 8 .
