Wild jubilation in communities as Senator Akpabio commissions third phase of constituency projects.
Some communities in Oruk Anam, Etim Ekpo and Ika Local Government Areas of Akwa Ibom State are in jubilant mood as the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio on Saturday, March 10 visits them to inaugurate some constituency projects that he has executed in the areas.
A statement by the Special Assistant on Media to the Senate Minority Leader, Anietie Ekong said some of the projects to be formally commissioned include roads, classroom blocks, open market stalls and water projects.
According to the itinerary of the commissioning program, Senator Akpabio will commission the Ikot Adia - Ukpum road and also a tastefully furnished three classroom block in the same Ukpum village in Oruk Anam Local Government Area.
Also billed to be commissioned in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area are 20 open market stalls at Otoro Obong which had since completion been put to use by the community.
In Ika Local Government Area, Senator Akpabio will commission a solar powered borehole water Project with reticulation facilities at Ikot Inyang Udo and 20 open market stalls at Urua Osukpong village.
Also while in Ika, the Senate Minority Leader will commission a tastefully furnished three classroom block at St Peter's African School, Ikot Antia, Ika and also embark on the inspection of the on-going construction of Urua Inyang - Ikot Udo - Army Barracks Road.
It will be recalled that Senator Akpabio had previously commissioned constituency projects he had executed in Ini, Ikono, Ikot Ekpene, Abak, Obot Akara and Oruk Anam. Over 280 students drawn from the 10 Local Government Areas of the Senatorial District have also benefited from full scholarship by the Senator.
Media aide to the Senator, Anietie Ekong described the execution of constituency projects by Senator Akpabio as unprecedented. "The idea of constituency projects as approved by the Federal Government is to touch the lives of rural communities through essential projects which are lacking in such communities and Senator Akpabio has used his influence as the Minority Leader to attract many of such projects to Akwa Ibom State," he said.
Apart from Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, the two other Senatorial Districts of Akwa Ibom State have also benefited from the constituency projects executed by Senator Akpabio in Uyo and Eket Senatorial Districts. The statement said dates will be announced in due course for the commissioning of more completed projects and enjoined benefiting communities to guard and protect the projects against vandals.
