FG SETS TO UPGRADE SKILL ACQUISITION CENTRE IBENO TO OIL AND GAS INSTITUTE




The Federal Government  is set  to  upgrade the skill acquisition centre built by the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs to oil and gas training institute. This is aimed  to service the oil and gas sector with competent man power.
Senator Akpabio dropped this hint over the weekend during an inspection tour of facilities at the center in Ibeno.


The Minister said when upgraded, the Institute would offer certificate, diploma, and degree courses in oil and gas related field.
He stressed that the Institute would be commercially viable based on the different training Programmes that would be offered when the Institute commences operations.


Other facilities at the center would include,250 bed houses  for male and female, staff quarters, clinic,,library, classrooms, water and good road network.

He added that the Olympic size swimming pool constructed at the site could aid courses in under water welding  at the center. Saying this would save the country a lot of foreign exchange spent on sending people on training  to South Africa.


Senator Akpabio lauded the vision of citing the facility  in Ibeno and recommended that the center should be renamed after the President, Muhammadu Buhari because of his  consistent show of love and commitment to the well being of Akwa Ibom State.

Speaking, a community leader, Engineer Wilson  Mkpa  appreciated Senator Akpabio for his visit to the centre saying the project began when Apkabio was the Governor and that it is not a coincidence to be completed by him.
Senator Akpabio with his team later paid courtesy visit to the Paramount ruler of Ibeno, Owong Effiong Archianga in his palace.
