PDP Returnees Seek Realignment into party
...as Ward Meeting holds across the State

No fewer than 52 political returnees in Uyo, Ward 8 have appealed to be reabsorbed and realigned into the People's Democratic Party (PDP).
They made the appeal on Saturday, March 30, 2024, on the occasion of the Party's Meeting held at Use Ikot Ebio Offot Town Hall in Uyo.
Speaking on behalf of the returnees, Hon. Mike Edem and Elder Aniefiok Awah expressed that they didn't abandon the PDP but rather went on a sympathy mission to other Parties.
"It's quite unfortunate that our sympathy didn't help those we gave it to so, we're back to base", Hon. Mike Edem said.
He then appealed that they be reintegrated so as to work hard and help secure Governor Umo Eno's second term bid.
Receiving them, the Political Leader of the Ward and Commissioner for Environment and Mineral Resources, Sir Charles Udoh charged them to remain steadfast and resolute with the PDP.
He stated that the Governor has been most magnanimous to the Ward and Uyo at large, by picking from amongst them a Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Personal Aides and Special Advisers, as well as members of the Neighborhood Watch.
"For this reason and more, he deserves our unalloyed support", the Commissioner said.
He assured them of being reabsorbed and guaranteed them of the Party's unending love for them.
Similarly, the Ward Chairman, Hon. Akwaowo Etim welcomed back the returnees and promised to carry them along, going forward.
He coveyed to them the Party's acceptance and allayed their fears of any rejection or segregation in the future.
"This meeting is convened at the instance of the Governor's directive that the Party should interface regularly with members, rather than wait until the time for election", he said.
Describing PDP as the winning team, he charged them to be focused and believe in the Party, so as not to be led astray again.
In his remarks, a former Councilor in the Ward, Hon. Akan Eyo called on members of the Party to accept and not discriminate the returnees.
He said they were still members of the family and should not be treated any less.
In attendance were the Personal Assistant to the Governor on Ward Matters, Comrade Paul Sylvester and his Youth Matters counterpart, Comrade Lawrence Imo Udoekong.
Uyo Ward 8 comprises Ikot Okubo Offot, Anua Obio Offot, Ikot Ekpe Offot, Use Ikot Ebio Offot and Obio Offot.
Elders, Women and Youth of the Ward attended the Congress.
