*To Participate in 10,000-Man Solidarity Walk for Tinubu, Akpabio, Umo Eno’s Peaceful Governance Beyond 2027
Distinguished Senator Aloysius Etok has endorsed the forthcoming Ikono/Ini Peace and Unity Summit, scheduled to hold on Wednesday, 28 January 2026, at the Council Hall of the Ikono Local Government Secretariat, Ibiaku Ntok Okpo. The former lawmaker also pledged to participate in the 10,000-man Solidarity Walk in support of peaceful governance by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Akwa Ibom State Governor Pastor Umo Eno, beyond 2027.
Senator Etok, a highly respected and experienced legislator who has served in the State House of Assembly, Federal House of Representatives, and the Senate, made this commitment while receiving members of the Ikono/Ini Media Professionals’ Global during a courtesy visit, acknowledging the vital role of the media in promoting community development and sustaining peace, he assured the delegation of his full support toward the successful hosting of the summit and its associated activities.
Earlier, the President of Ikono/Ini Media Professionals’ Global, Comrade Emmanuel Ufon, commended Senator Etok for his outstanding contributions to human capacity development. He described the Senator as the first in the senatorial district to initiate wide-reaching empowerment programmes, including the provision of cars and other vehicles, scholarships, securing of employment opportunities, financial support to people across the 10 local government areas often without publicity. He noted that the solidarity visit was in recognition of the Senator’s significant contributions to humanity and development during his time in office.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Comrade Ufot Udokang, disclosed that the Ikono/Ini Peace and Unity Summit 2026 would be preceded by a series of activities, chief among them a 10,000-man solidarity walk scheduled for Saturday, 24 January 2026.
According to him, the walk is aimed at demonstrating support for the leadership and peaceful governance of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Pastor Umo Eno, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Hon. Engr. Oto-Obong Okon Essien, Chairman of Ikono Local Government Council, and Hon. Inibehe Umah, Chairman of Ini Local Government Council, beyond 2027.
Comrade Udokang, who also serves as Assistant Director of News at the Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Corporation (AKBC), announced the postponement of the previously scheduled one-week free medical outreach earlier slated to commence on Tuesday, 20 January 2026 at the General Hospital, Ini; Ini Local Government Council Secretariat; General Hospital, Ikono; and Ikono Local Government Council Secretariat.
He explained that the postponement followed a directive from the Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ekem Emmanuel John, to allow the Ministry adequate time to complete all necessary due processes. He assured the public that a new date for the medical outreach would be announced in due course.
