PRESS STATEMENT
The attention of the Management of Federal Polytechnic, Ukana has been drawn to a false and misleading news item aired by Planet FM 101.1 Uyo on Monday May 14th over Tuesday, May 15th to the effect that the Polytechnic is having a Management crisis and running without Accreditation of any Course.
For the avoidance of doubt, we wish to state as follows:
1. The Polytechnic is not having any Management crisis whatsoever.
2. The Institution had in 2016 secured interim accreditation for ND, Computer Science and ND, Statistics which is supposed to run for the duration of two years and to which three batches of students had been admitted into the programs.
3. Poised to expand the scope of academic program, the Management had invited the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) for Accreditation/Resource Inspection/Verification visitation. The NBTE via a letter TEB/ARO/F.23/Vol. I/X dated 8th May 2018, conveyed to the Polytechnic their readiness for the accreditation visit scheduled to hold from 23rd to 26th of May 2018 (One Week from today).
4. Only last two weeks, a team from NBTE visited the institution for Mock Accreditation Exercise and were impressed by facilities on ground.
5. Programs put forward by the Polytechnic for NBTE consideration include ND, Computer Science (Accreditation), ND, Statistics (Accreditation), ND, Science Laboratory Technology (Resource Verification), ND, Computer Engineering (Resource Verification), ND, Business Administration and Management (Resource Verification), ND, Civil Engineering (Resource Inspection), ND, Electrical Electronics Engineering (Resource Inspection). Invariably, the Polytechnic is leaving nothing to chance in adding seven (7) programs to her menu.
6. It is pertinent to state that the Federal Polytechnic, Ukana unarguably is the fastest growing institution in terms of infrastructure and academic programs among other sister Polytechnics established in 2014.
Any information contrary to the above is intended to mislead unsuspecting members of the public and we hereby enjoin the public to disregard such.
As an academic institution, we refuse to be distracted in our task of working hard to be pace setters in the provision of Technological, Innovative and value oriented training to meeting the man power requirement necessary for the development of our great Nation and beyond.
