STUDENTS SOCIAL SERVICES VOLUNTEER SCHEME TAKES CVR AWARENESS CAMPAIGN TO COLLEGE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
Students Social Volunteers Scheme an initiative of the Special Assistant to the Governor on Students Affairs, Comrade Aquilla Otobong Akpan today took the School to School Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) Awareness campaign to the College of Science and Technology, Nung Ukim in Ikono LGA. In her entourage were the Special Assistant to the Governor on Agriculture, Amb.Armstrong Moses, a foremost movie Director. Mr. Moses Eskor, NANS student leaders and Miss Uniuyo. She and her entourage were warmly received by the Management, staff and students of the college.
Comrade Aquilla in her opening remarks admonished the student community to quit procrastination and take the concrete action of getting their permanent voters card (PVC). She restated the government's zero tolerance for clandestine activities and urged students to eschew cultism and uphold the virtues of peaceful coexistence.
"Today we came here to admonish you and to do the practical work of Voters Registration campaign. We are here to remind students that too much side talk, grumbling and noise doesn't solve problems. You may think voters registration is a government thing but its actually your thing. As young people we should be at the forefront of global change and its only in this country that we don't know who we are. That's why i have taken it upon myself to go round the State sensitizing students on the need to stop procrastinating and take concrete action today", she said.
