...AS ADP BATTLE READY TO TAKE HILLTOP MANSION BY STORM COME

Another gubernatorial aspirant has swelled the ranks of those jostling for Governor Udom Emmanuel's job come 2019.

He is an academic and a thorough bred economist, Dr Michael Sampson Akpan of the party touted to be one of the fastest growing political parties in Nigeria, Action Democratic Party (ADP)

Dr Michael Akpan declared his intention recently in his country home, Eket during a stakeholders meeting comprising of major key players, elders , chapter and ward executive as well as his teeming supporters

According to the governorship hopeful, " this is the journey we are about to embark upon today. I am emboldened seeing you party stalwarts, distinguished party leaders, party elders, the various professional support groups, my friends, colleagues, well wishers and patriotic Akwa ibomites from all the 31 Local Government Areas of the state

" You come from far and near in solidarity with us on this historic occasion.We shall be part of the success story together by the Grace of God.I stand before you today, excited about the great hopes and possibilities that the future holds for our dear state If we make the right choices"

 He further said"
This public declaration of intent to be your Governor next year with the first step of being nominated as the flagbearer of our great party, that we all built together from inception, is the prompting of God supported by men and women of vision who meant well for our state"

The gubernatorial aspirant further said " I stand here to affirm and solemnly declare that granted your maximum support for the party's ticket and victory in the 2019 general elections, your mandate shall solely be used to make Akwa Ibom State better. The declaration is a declaration of freedom, a declaration for prosperity and the economic emancipation of the generality of Akwa i
Ibomites"

Dr Michael Akpan noted that he decided to step out to offer himself, trusting God and believing in your support, to serve the good people of the Land of Promise in providing the desired exemplary leadership and strategic direction for charting a new course of accelerated socio economic development of our state.

A seasoned technocrat, administrator, banker, entrepreneur, his works and impeccable credentials speak volumes

Dr Akpan has worked out a blueprint of socio economic agenda which presents a picture of where we are coming from, where we want to be and how we want to get there.

 His manifesto is basically anchored on job creation, agricultural revolution, industrialization, natural resources development, infrastructural development among others

Dr Michael Akpan also used the momentous occasion to open and commission his brand new campaign office along Afaha Uqua Road in Eket

For the records, Dr Michael Sampson Akpan is a 1984 graduate of Economics from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, a 1995 Master's Degree holder in Economics and Statistics from the University of Benin and a 2011 Ph.D in Economics from ABU

A development banker from 1987 to 1999 in the now Bank of Agriculture.
He joined the academic in 2000 at the Nigerian Defence Academy

A former Head of Department, He is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Economics at Bingham ( ECWA ) University
He has authored many books and has several publications to his credit
