Sen Akpabio justifies mandate

Senator Akpabio inaugurates school, water,  market projects in Obot Akara, Etim Ekpo, Ika LGAs

... as constituents vow to return him for a second term in the red chamber

The people of Obot Akara, Etim Ekpo and Ika local government areas in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial district of Akwa Ibom State on Saturday 20th January rolled out drums to celebrate their representative at the National Assembly, and Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio for attracting life touching projects to their communities.

The Senator who had flag off his constituency project inauguration last week in ikono, Ini, Ikot Ekpene and Abak, continued the exercise, Saturday with the commissioning of a three class room block built by him at the FIDA Secondary Commercial School, Urua Offiong Etor udo in Obot Akara local government area. The Senator thereafter moved to Etim Ekpo Local Government Area, where he inaugurated a fully furnished three classroom block at Government School, Uruk Ata Ikot Ekpau, Utu Etim Ekpo. Akpabio also unveiled a solar-powered 3.5 km radius reticulated water project in Utu Idung Akpan Udom Village, a community in Ika which shares same boundary with Etim Ekpo. The water serves villagers from the the two local government areas.
A 20-stall open market project in Urua Mboho Annang in Oruk Anam was also inaugurated by Senator Akpabio.

While in Oruk Anam, Senator Akpabio inspected the  ultra-modern civic centre built by him in memory of the late former former Senator and Governor of the old Cross River state, Chief Donald Dick Etiebet Civic Centre in Ikot Ekpuk and also a three kilometre radius, solar-powered reticulated water project to ascertain the level of work done by the contractor.
A well furnished three classroom block with desks in Ukpum Village, Obio Ibiet Esa were also inaugurated by the Senator.

Inaugurating the facilities, Chief Akpabio who hailed President Buhari for facilitating the constituency projects, said the projects were sited in the benefitting communities in response to the yearnings of the people. He promised to use his position in the National Assembly to attract more people oriented projects to the ten local governments in the senatorial district.
The Senator thanked the people for the confidence reposed on him as their representative at the National Assembly, and pledged to double his effort in bringing succour to his constituents. He advised the benefitting communities to guard the facilities against vandals and advised youths of the senatorial district not to engage in social vices.



"Projects are located where the people needs the projects. This should serve as a reminder to those who are aspiring to be Senator in the future that you must bring something home any time you have opportunity to serve your people".
"When God gives you the opportunity, do not move your pocket forward, but move your community forward. I must do my best to ensure that that the 10 local government areas in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial district benefits from my constituency projects".

Welcoming the Senator to Obot Akara,  Chairman of the local government council, Mr. Anietie Udo Udo, House of Assembly member for Ikot Ekpene/Obot Akara State constituency, Hon. Idongesit Ntekpere, Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Mr. Monday Ebong Uko, and the Village head of the benefitting community in their separate remarks, described Akpabio as a performing legislator whose representation has impacted positively on the people of Obot Akara and the entire Senatorial district as a whole.
They were unanimous in their assurances of a second term ticket for the Senator.
At Ika, the Village head of the benefitting community were the water project is sited, Ette Idung Cadif Afangikpeh, prayed God to bless Senator Akpabio for brining relief to their sufferings, saying the water project which now supplies water as far as 3 kilometers radius in the community and neighbouring communities has brought succour to the villagers.

The Senate Minority Leader was accompanied during the constituency projects inauguration tour by the Member representing Ikot Ekpene Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Akpan, PDP Chieftain and Chairman, BOT, Ati Annang, Sir. Emem Akpabio, member representing Essien Udim at the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Nse Ntuen, former Commissioner for Works, Mr. Don Etim, House of Assembly member for Ikot Ekpene/Obot Akara state constituency, Hon. Idongesit Ntekpere, Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Monday Uko, House of Assembly member for Etim Ekpo/Ika State constituency, Rt. Hon. Gabriel Toby, and the Commissioner for Labour, Productivity and Manpower Development, Barr. Ibanga. Akpabio.
Others include, Chairmen of Obot Akara, Etim Ekpo and Ika, councilors and members of the LG executive, among others.
At Oruk Anam, the member representing the area in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, and House Leader, Sir Udo Kierian, Chairman of Council, PDP chieftains and stakeholders of the area were on hand to receive the Senator.

Meanwhile, Akpabio's media aide, Anietie Ekong has said that the former Governor and Senate Minority Leader sees the whole state as his constituency and so has graciously extended his constituency projects to communities in Uyo and Eket Senatorial Districts.

According to Mr Ekong the dates for the commissioning of more projects in Ika, Essien Udim and Ukanafun Local Government Areas and Uyo and Eket Senatorial Districts will be announced in due course.
