NGO advocate on concession for women

As 2019 general election draw closer, Non Governmental Organizations under the aegis of Voice of Akwa Ibom Women has advocated a level playing grounds for women participation in politics, to contest for elective positions such as State House of Assembly, House of Representative, Senate and President.
Speaking in a special interview program yesterday via Alantic FM 104.5MHz, Uyo, the Executive Director, Women United for Economic Empowerment, Mrs Iniobong Frank said that African women are not given right to lead at different level of government and called on women to participate in politics and contest for any elective positions.
In her word, "men take over, men dominate women. Women need a space in politics and not to tied wrappers support the men in political campaign, state functions, among other gathering.
"Women are the majority. Don't be afraid you can do it. Give respect to your husbands. So I'm calling on those that hear us now and after please don't let the financial aspect scare you away from politics.
"We want to advocate to government, PDP, APC and other political parties to look into high cost of nomination forms and concession for women; No husband will be able to raise five or ten million naira, so that women will contest.", Mrs Frank stressed.
She reiterated that it will be better for women to lead in various political offices.
Mrs Frank called on political stakeholders to empower and give women a level playing ground for women to contest. Adding that once women are empowered they are self esteem.
The representatives of Voice of Akwa Ibom Women, Hon. Nyong Emah, Hon. Eyaketang Akpan, Dopse Sandy, and Helen Ekong added that women should run for elective positions not to be afraid of anything but stand firm with God by your side you will win.
They advised women to consult some political elders and stakeholders to talk to them one on one
"Please, I need your support, I have a desire to serve the people. Don't say because of money or funds I will not be able to come out and contest. We assured you, women will vote for you to win.
