2019 Voters’ Mobilization: APC Defeats PDP

...As Council Boss, PDP Thugs Plot To Disrupt Rally Fails

An attempt by the chairman of Abak Local Government Area, Barr. Imoh Williams to use thugs to disrupt All Progressives Congress, APC meeting at Government Primary School, Ikwek Afaha Obong was on Friday filed by the resident APC faithful in collaboration with the Police.
It would be recalled that APC faithful in Afaha Obong Clan on the fateful day, had organized the meeting to receive defecting Peoples Democratic Party, PDP members into their fold, when Barr. Williams who is from Ikot Akpabio, Afaha Obong organized the thugs to go and disrupt the meeting on the pretext that PDP was having it own meeting at the same venue.
However, when the purported PDP meeting could not hold water, Barr. Williams out of shame that APC has taken over his territory, organized the thugs to disrupt the meeting, an action that was vehemently resisted by the APC faithful.
Our correspondent in the area learnt that APC in order to hold grip of Afaha Obong Clan and ensure that the meeting continue as planned, called for help from the Police in which an armoured car was brought to the area to provide protection.
It was at that point that the troublesome PDP thugs scampered from the venue. The few villagers hired by the Council Chairman equally fled the venue of the “stage managed” PDP meeting while the Police took over the canopies stand to provide security for the APC meeting.
A member of the community, who spoke with our correspondent in the area, described the action of the council chairman as “shameful and ignominious of a failed administration”. He added that if the present PDP administration in the State had performed, the mass defection from the party would not have taken place.
He particularly chided the Council Chairman, Barr. Imoh Williams and the Deputy Governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo for failing the Afaha Obong people in particular and Abak people in general. He said that the mass defection including the likes of Mr. Richard Ebong, Dr. Innocent Idiong, is a sign that Abak people have totally rejected PDP in the area.
